Apparently we want 4 more signings. Crawford makes it 3.
Huh? So we're getting Miles, not Crawford? I'm confused. We're getting BOTH?
Sounds like Crawford is a done deal. If we could have signed CJ Miles for our RE, then I don't get siging Crawford. But I'm guessing we're waiting on whether the Pacers are willing to do a sign-and-trade with CJ Miles coming here in exchange for Cole Aldrich and perhaps a 2019 2nd round pick we're scheduled to get (we don't have our own).
I like the Crawford signing (assuming it's not instead of signing Miles). At 37 years old, he still has some game left. He can get hot and light it up from behind the arc and score in other ways. I like that he gives us another ball-handler. He's also a first class guy based on what I've read and heard.
If we end up with Crawford AND CJ Miles, I'll be thrilled!
Now if we can pull off the Aldrich + pick to IND for sign and trade of CJ Miles. I know people on this forum are reluctant to throw in the pick, but acquiring Miles would give this team awesome depth on the wing and also critically needed 3 point shooting.
I'd then look at signing Udoh, Dunleavy and Vasquez a PG to vet min deals
Teague / Jones / Vasquez
Wiggins / Crawford / G League
Butler / Miles / Dunleavy
Dieng / Bjelica / Patton
Towns / Gibson / Udoh

Yes, we want both! (well, that's what I want!)
Wow, that would be pretty awesome. I really want at least one 40% shooter from 3. If we did manage to add both Crawford and Miles, I'd feel a lot less worried about our 3 point shooting, and that has been my big worry. I imagine this means we've got a deal to dump Aldrich to clear the cap space for Miles? I wonder if it involves giving up next year's first.
Defensively, I wish we had another versatile defender in there someplace. But adding Butler and Taj should definitely help, and I do think Teague's on-the-ball D will pay dividends. The big question is really whether Wiggins and Towns can improve as defenders. If so, we're really in business.
If we get both Crawford and Miles, I see Tyus and Bjelly getting fewer minutes, and Payne is still not getting off the bench.
I've always liked the idea for him on this team. Everyone always argues against it becuz he's not enough of a 2 way player. Hope he has enough left in the tank!

Absolutely no way I'd include the OKC pick for CJ. The guy is an unrestricted FA so the Pacers stand to get nothing in return for him. They should be pleased to get Cole and a 2019 2nd round pick. If some other team comes along and offers more than that in a sign-and-trade, then so be it. I like Miles, but there are other free agents out there.

Why should any team be happy to accept Cole's $14M when he couldn't even get on the floor for a 31 win team? I think you're overestimating the Wolves leverage minus the OKC 1st.
Drew -- this is at least the 2nd time I have seen you suffering from some sort of delusion. Payne is NOT on our roster. Thibs chose wisely to not pick up his option last October. So he is an unrestricted free agent.
It will be interesting to see what Afflalo eventually gets. If he ends up signing for the same as or less than Jamaal Crawford, then I'll wonder whether Thibs pursued him and, of not, why not. On paper, I'd take Afflalo over Crawford. Afflalo is a better defender, a lot younger and a slightly better, more consistent 3-point shooter.
Assuming we don't sign Miles, we'll still need a solid defensive wing and it will have to be for the vet minimum. The guy at the top of my list would be Thabo. Then I'd round out the roster with a 3-point shooting PG Aaron Brooks.

That's only $7.3 million next season and under $7 million the last year. Not a big contract. Indiana's in rebuild mode. They need bodies for next season but should have their sights set on good lottery position. Cole gives them a big body and another asset that's relatively cheap by today's NBA standards. So it seems to me he's better than getting nothing in return. If the Pacers don't see it that way, then so be it. CJ Miles isn't going to be a key to the Wolves season.
