We missed a couple of layups near the end of the half. Down 3 at the break.
Costello out due to illness is a bummer...

Ryan Saunders is a damn good coach. Love that play he designed to tie the game up.
That being said, and one reason I think Saunders is doing a great job......there isn't a single NBA player among our bunch of guys that played. Costello and Paige are nice, smart players, but no way should either be on our roster. I'm not seeing any diamonds in the rough here, sorry guys.
I had a friend record the game because I was watching the new Spider-Man movie. It was pretty good. Anyway I don't know when I will get to watch this game so thanks for the reports.
Q did Costello keep playing defense like he has the previous couple games staying verticle? Dude is putting up some serious numbers I think he could be a decent bench big even in this new NBA. He feels like a possible cheaper version of Aldrich and there is a chance he can actually develop a 3 point shot.
VJ and Burton I think we're the guys on this roster that we're touted the highest and...they have done very little espcially VJ. Cooke looks much more interesting and Costello for sure. Paige could be a nice enough guy to have on the D-league I cant decide if ai feel like he really has potential. I'd lean towards not but I'm interested to watch all the games and see.
It really is impressive that the Wolves are competing against these teams with likely nobody that will on an NBA roster. How long will we be able to keep Ryannarpund before some team decides to try and pluck him away? Ok maybe it's a while yet but the interviews he has done this year he looks more comfortable than before less stuff and just seems more like he belongs. He has always come off as a smart guy but not really a spotlight type. A couple people including Jon K said he is a grinder like Thibs so he is a down to business basketball guy. It's good to see he is still around through all this.
Costello showed some very good fundamentals, including walling up defensively. He was also very good on the glass. Unfortunately, he just doesn't have the size or athleticism to compete at an NBA level IMO. He also has zero outside shot. If he could stretch the floor with shooting, he could carve out a niche as a stretch 5 bench big. But if you can't step outside these days as a big man, you better be pretty damn good at a few other things, especially defense, to get playing time. I don't see it happening for Costello.

He may not have the outside shot now but he has been working on it and took some shots last year in the D-league. I watched the 10 min highlights from yesterday's game and against the GS bigs he didn't look as good. They sure missed him today though they got owned on the glass.
I didn't see the last 2 full games but I agree that nobody was good enough to get too excited about. Costello was the biggest pleasant surprise and Paige was one of their better players. Cooke might be the most intruiging guy. CJ Williams is a guy that would be great to have on a D-league roster because he looks like he knows how to play just not talented enough (or can't make shots enough) to play at the next level. Gibbs will make some money somewhere playing basketball.
Well the Wolves are out of the tourney. That means some free time. It was a good showing though with basically some scrubs. Hopefully we can find a gem from another roster or develop a guy from being on the D-league roster. I'd like to see Costello there I'd probably go watch a game if he was on the roster he can play.
Re: Summer league thread
Don't they go down to a consolation bracket? I thought they were guaranteed 5 games. Or was that just in the OLD days...

They play one more game against the Wizards tomorrow. But who cares.
The best 3 players have been in my opinion Ellis, Paige and Costello and none of them have any legit upside.

I pretty much agree.
For Paige to have upside he has to be able to hit 3's and probably hit them from deep. If he can't do that no other improvement is gonna matter much.
Costello probably has the best chance to be the next guy on a roster as a cheaper version of Aldrich. The problem is though teams aren't going to be keeping guys around like that if the league keeps trending the way it does. To be more than that he has to develop a jumper.
Ellis yeah no.
It would have been nice to see more from someone. One of these guys could still end up being useful down the road it's just a few games and it's early in their career. I'm much more intruiged by other players than the one's on this SL roster.
Re: Summer league thread
Watching the Dallas v Sacramento game right now. Wow, Dennis Smith is fun to watch. I always knew he was incredibly talented. But he's even more talented than I thought. Great athleticism of course, but also a great feel for the game and excellent court vision. He may be an example of exaggerated spin related to attitude issues. The guy looks highly motivated and engaged. No telling how he'll respond to the tough NBA schedule, the temptations of the NBA lifestyle and perhaps an extended losing streak. But I really want this guy to succeed. He's so fun to watch.
As we all know and as some of us saw, Lonzo Ball had a breakout game last night with 36 points, etc. So I have a lot of confidence in my pre-draft prediction that he'll end up this season's rookie of the year and ultimately the best player in this draft. He is so gifted. I know its summer league, but I'm really impressed by what I've seen from Ball, Smith, Tatum, Josh Jackson, Fox and John Collins. They all look like they'll be really good NBA players and, some of them even great players.
