I believe the Wolves still have to make additional moves (see Cole Aldrich) to open up much space...

I hope we don't trade a first to get rid of Cole.

I don't want to move the pick either. I think it's time to wait things out a bit and see who we can get for the vet min.

I think it's possible Olynyk still gets paid a decent chunk of money because he is one of the most exciting players left and is kinda young and all that stuff. How good is he really? Idk it will be interesting to see how much he gets. There are a bunch of guys in his range of impact like James Johnson and j Green that are players teams are looking to add.

I would have felt better with Rubio and Olynyk then Teague, Gibson, and first rounder. It keeps the supporting group younger. Olynyk also would have brought some playoff experience to the group.

While I'm against trading any pick just to unload a contract (brings back Smilin' Wes memories)... the Cole + pick option has been floated.

We'll see what happens with guys like Olynyk. But I think we're seeing a much different situation this year than last. Last year, Dion Waiters was the exception... more might be seeing that type of situation this season.

And ironically, the Wolves benefited from staying out of the spending fray last season.

Really? How does Olynyk help our front court defense at all? Teague and Gibson both add playoff experience to this roster as starters which is huge. The only thing Olynyk would give us would be 3pt shooting from a big and it's not like he's a sharpshooter. Other than that he would be a terrible fit. Ricky/Olynyk v Teague/Gibson/1st pick is a no brainer option 2 for me.

Kahns, I am just not excited about getting older or guys near or past peak at this point. I think Teague might have already peaked and Taj has peaked. I think both Rubio and Olynyk best days are ahead of them. Then again Olynyk really had a rough season. Certainly wouldn't help as much as Taj on defense, but I think we over bid on Taj.

Cole has value with that second year being only 2 mil guaranteed. I'd add a future 2nd, nothing more. We will need that first around the deadline or to add a young player at the pick to grow into depth as we will be capped out for awhile.

I agree, Monster. Thibs needs to take step off the treadmill for a few minutes and take a deep breath. I think he got carried away and jumped the gun using the rest of our cap space to sign Taj to 2-year $28 million deal when there were solid vet PFs out there like Patrick Patterson willing to take a 3-year $16 million deal. He shouldn't compound the mistake by giving up the 1st round pick we got for Ricky just to open up enough cap space to sign a decent backup wing. It's time for Thibs to earn his keep. Yes, he did well in the Butler deal, but that deal didn't take a lot of thought or creativity.

Now it's time for Thibs and Layden to earn their keep by signing one or two below-the-radar players (undrafted, released, or G-League) who can step up and shine. We need to sign our own version of Covington, J. Green, Dedmon, Danny Green, etc. That's what elite front offices do. We haven't seen it yet from any Wolves front office except when McHale traded for Billups, but then we let him go before he blossomed even though he was apparently shining in practice.

I would honestly prefer seeing who might be available in trade for Cole and the pick than any of the free agent names.

It sounds like the idea of trading that pick has cooled. My guess is it has something to do with the price of a guy like Miles for a 3rd year. If you were Glen do you want to be playing Lux tax and also had given up a first round pick for...CJ Miles? No and I wouldn't blame him. Now if we were a legit contender at that point...it's a bit different. I agree that it's time to find they other players but it's also time to convince some decent vets to sign here. There is decent opportunity right now with nothing beyond Wiggins and Butler.
