Hey save that OpTIMism for the Vikings board it needs all the posts in can get. Seriously there are actually a couple recent posts over check it out. :)
I just saw that this morning. Maybe I'll visit there a bit more...
In the meantime, back to basketball opTIMism! DA has the Wolves ranked #5 in terms of offseason moves...
I was just reading that Tim and I found this an interesting quote.
"THE KEY MAN: Physicial therapist Arnie Kander. I'm hearing that Kander, who resigned in Detroit in June after 23 years there as one of the best body mechanics in the league, will be joining the Timberwolves in a new capacity in September. Kander and Minnesota Coach Flip Saunders know each other from Saunders' time as coach in Detroit, and had a great working relationship. Kander will be no doubt be tasked with figuring out how to keep Ricky Rubio in one piece going forward. Garnett will love him, too."
I just want to add how much a like and respect David Aldridge. If he says something you know he has sources to back it up. He doesn't claim to be a talent wizard or have some super analysis of the game he just shares what he gleans and when he gives his thoughts they are well qualified and well thought out.
I also found it interesting quote about there were "more than a few" scouts that said they felt Tyus Jones was the best pure PG in the draft. I've always wondered if those scouts that say those types of things when it comes to PGs may be saying other players may have more talent but they don't see them as a true PG but a scoring PG but anyway it's an interesting perspective.
Yeah, the news about hiring Arnie Kander is potentially very good. I researched him a little, and he has a reputation of being an innovator in rehabbing and preventing injuries. He's a proponent of yoga, and I can attest that incorporating yoga into my daily routine has really extended my athletic career...it seems like I don't get the little injuries that I have periodically gotten my entire life since I started doing yoga.
Here are just a couple of his successes. Antonio McDyess joined the Pistons in 2004 trying to extend a career largely derailed by knee injuries. He had played only 52 games total in his previous 3 seasons. But in his 5 seasons with Arnie, he played 77, 82, 82, 78, and 62 games. That has to be good for guys like KG and Martin, and even Miller. Jonas Jerebko tore his Achilles in the first pre-season game, and would have played in the playoffs if the Pistons had made it. That has to be good for guys like Rubio, Pek and Shabazz.
I'm surprised at you guys who would be satisfied with 30 wins this year. I will only be satisfied with 30 if Arnie fails in Minnesota and the Wolves have the same kind of injury experience they have had the past several seasons.
If Towns and Wiggins live up to they potential this will probably be the greatest period of Wolves basketball ever. Plus we have a good group of other young players with a few vets to help bring them along.

Remarkably similar to Kevin Love...but I'm not going to say which version of him :)
Looks like he began treatment 8 weeks ago (before the draft!). Expects a full recovery, and to continue as both President and Head Coach. Sure seems like an ideal time to give way to new coach...
So, is this a bad omen for the continued medical misery of this organization? Or is it final penance that puts our medical misery behind us? I'm going with the final penance!
