I always thought this board overvalued Jeff Adrien more than any player we have ever discussed. I always appreciate a guy that hustles, but after watching him a few games last year, it was apparent to me that Jeff Adrien was not an NBA player...kind of a way-undersized Rony Turiaf. And after we released him, he had to go play in China because no NBA team was interested in him (despite several teams having multiple big man injuries). And then he got cut by his Chinese team. If he is a player, then I have to conclude that all NBA (and Chinese) GMs can't evaluate talent.
Nice guy. Good hustle. And I think that is why 6 NBA teams have taken a chance on him in 6 years. But after seeing his limited game, I understand why no team has ever asked him back.
I'm hoping that the Wolves get off to a fast start this year so the Jeff Adrien era can be over :) .

Re: The Guys We're NOT Talking About
The name Dieng came up quite a bit in trade discussions this summer and prior to the draft. Apparently he has a lot of value around the league. Given he hasn't been the defender we expected, his offense has been way better than I would have ever believed. At the end of the day he is a nice asset who can play a role on a contender. Find someone to provide defense and muscle, I like what Gorgui gives us.

I am gonna to have a lot of fun with LST this coming season with his dislike of Jeff Adrien but mostly his poor fact checking when it comes to Jeff's basketball career. Oh it's gonna be great!!!! Stay tuned. Lol

No, no, no...I like Jeff Adrien. I just think his game belongs at the Uptown Y, not Target Center.
"Undersized Rony Turiaf", "nice guy", and "good hustle" are my opinions and subject to debate. My other comments ( no nba team picked him up after we cut him, even his Chinese team cut him, he has been cut by every team he has played for") are indisputable.
Now, if Jeff blows up for the Pelicans and makes the All-Star team, I'll gladly eat my words!

"Indisputable" Ok...just know I am busting your chops here. :)
Well as I have told you before he was not cut from his Chinese team he was deactivated and it was so they could add a guy to the active roster that was a top 10 pick in this latest NBA draft. He signed there for a guarenteed deal instead of playing out 10 day contracts that were reportedly offered. What a moron he should probably fire his agent. Lol
Your comment about no team has ever brought him back after they cut him is incorrect as well. GSW brought back Adrien after cutting him earlier in that season so there is a team that has brought him back.
Get your facts straight man you are better than that. :)

Well, I'm not so sure the board overvalued him since it was me that primarily fell head over heels for him. Perhaps Drew and Monster too, but I think most folks were fairly ambivalent about him, similar to yourself.
In my opinion, Adrien is an NBA-caliber player and deserves a spot on someone's roster (which he's got once again, now with the Pelicans). He can rebound the hell out of the ball, is strong as an ox, and has a bit of a mean streak. I like that about him and I probably overvalue him as a reaction to the stark contrast he presented versus our other bigs last season. He's limited offensively, but that's not what I'd be paying him for. You still need to be able to play a little smash mouth ball in this league.

Dieng set to play at 1:30 Eastern today as FIBA Afrobasket continues. He's averaging 24 Pts, 15 rebs, and 4 assts per game. Of all players competing, he's easily tops in PPG and RPG. He's 5th in APG, so yeah, he's easily the best all-around player in the tournament. This has to be fun for him.

Re: The Guys We're NOT Talking About
Well, Senegal fizzled out in the end. After going undefeated through their first 5 games, they lost their final two and finished 4th in the tournament.
Dieng led the tournament in Points, Rebounds, and Minutes. He was tied for 7th in assists.
After playing 7 games averaging 38 MPG with no more than 48 hours of rest between games, I suspect Dieng is pretty gassed. The good news is that he didn't get hurt and should be in good shape for training camp.
