I have always liked this guy. I think he got overpaid (as most guys do), but he is someone I would sign to a multi-year deal if he is interested.

Depends on the goal of the organization. He's worth signing to get a competent body in the frontcourt if we're trying to close out the year well, but that results in a worse pick in an already weak draft when we have no shot at the playoffs. You really could go either way.

Jason Thompson isn't bringing us more wins this year. Definitely not enough to decrease the value of our pick. He's helping the on-court product with rebounding, defense and competent veteran play. You do this move to help the development of the young guys, IMO. He's better than Payne and Rudez by a mile and that's all you can ask for right now.

I would be interested him mostly just to see if he is a fit. We might be set at the draft with bigs.

I agree also, I don't want dieng and towns playing 40+ minutes the rest of the way in a year we can't make the playoffs

I've always liked Thompson too. I don't know how good of a defender he is or isn't but he is sort of one of those guys that isn't good enough to start and yet is a pretty solid bench guy. He is sort of a Jordon Hill type although when healthy I think Hill is better. I know JT didn't play for GS but I would think he would draw interest from some other good teams that needed a big. I don't know if he is quite the big guy we need to compliment the skinny dudes we have but I would be interested in signing him next year if the price was cheap. I don't see it happening but I would be all for it this year and depending on the price the next.

And I think glen would do it, he bought out lou amundson a couple years ago. Jason Thompson long term I don't want but for the rest of the year why not

I feel kind of meh about it. Its funny the author says he's "only 29" like he's still very young. It also depends who he would replace? If we could have bought out KMart cheaply we would have done so already. Personally, if we bring in a guy, I'd rather go the D-League route as there are some much younger guys who could help you down the road.

They could always dump Rudez and financially it wouldn't cost much and he isn't all that great on the court but I sorta like him in a way. That's partly because he is less cringeworthy than Payne who is a roller coaster. I think the "Only 29" comment was funny also but might have been one of those things were you look up a guy who seems to have been around forever and he hasn't turned 30 yet and you exclaim some surprise. Lol
