I'm big into if the wolves can't get JVG, I would go hard after dantoni, he gets a bad rap and I would love him as our next coach to bring a offensive identity to the wolves

Besides the Big 3, some other names out there: Luke Walton, Kenny Atkinson, Steve Nash (?), Izzo, Avery Johnson, Mark Jackson, Calipari, McHale.

I have a man crush on Steve Nash, so there's that. I don't see him as a "lifer" as a coach though.

Especially with the young kids. Wasn't his move to LA/California partly because of the kids stuff? MN is far away.

The key word is "smart." The best NBA head coaches have come in many varieties with very different personalities, different styles and different approaches to the game - Phil Jackson, Popovich, Carlisle, Thibs, Adelman, JVG, etc. The common thread connecting them is that they're all obviously smart. If the Wolves don't hire Thibs or JVG, then let's hope the front office finds a young up-and-comer who is highly intelligent. I think the Celtics got a guy like that in Brad Stevens.

It's hard not to see the terrific defensive potential this team has on paper. We could be adding another player to that young core next summer (Ingram, Dunn, Simmons) too.

So, with that said, I want a defensive mind taking over this team. I want the guy that will push our young guys and develop them into the defenders they need to be, and should be.

The guy I still want, though I have no idea how interested he is, is Thibs. He's a proven, winning coach with a track record of elite defensive concepts/schemes and developing young talent into starters/All-Stars/MVP caliber players. He also keeps a competitive product on the floor regardless of personnel being injured, which needs to be recognized as well.

Thibs is the best available coach and it likely isn't even close. If we can get him (throw big money and control his way), then I think we need to do so.

Realistically: Scotty Brooks or Dave Joerger

Best case: JVG

Left field: Sam I am Cassell / Chauncey Billups

I do like Thibs a lot, but the reason I like Brooks better is that I worry that Thibs might grate the players more than a players coach like Brooks. Wish we could have Thibs as a top assistant under either Brooks or JVG.
