What is the difference between Ben McLemore and Wes Johnson? Other than the fact one is a SG and the other a SF, I honestly can't tell the difference. They are both equally disappointing in their combination of athleticism, shooting stroke, and meager results.

McLemore was a much better college player and has been more efficient player as a pro. McLemore came into the league younger too and its too early to write him off. McLemore is born in 1993 while Wes was born in 1987.

I personally don't think they're looking to part ways with Koufos. He's a really nice player to have especially on that team-friendly contract.

Not a whole lot of difference to this point. You may have something there. The main difference is that McLemore didn't and won't cost us a top-10 pick like Johnson did AND McLemore's still just 22-years old.

If we could get him for Martin as you propose, it would be worth a try. But color me skeptical in terms of his future. I mean, yeah, he seems to be a decent shooter, but it's in fairly low volume (by today's standards of 3-point snipers) and he doesn't appear to do much else.

You wouldn't roll the dice on McLemore? He's arguably a low risk/high reward type of guy, IMO.

Cam,
I guess here is where I stand. If we can get McLemore for a package of Martin + Payne as I believe you or someone else stated, then we probably don't want him. Payne is hot garbage, and while I agree with you that Martin is bagged on a bit much, he just doesn't seem to give Sacto an answer to help them with a playoff push. It would mean that Sacto is clearly just giving away McLemore....much in the same way that MN is clearly done with Payne. Makes me question the willingness to do that type of deal.

I am not stating that is the case....but it makes me question his talent if he would be traded for our garbage.

Sounds like McLemore is working with the Kings to facilitate a trade. Something might already be done according to the ESPN crawler. I would trade Martin for him in a New York second.

Wow that would be them giving up on 2 of their last 3 1st's. Next year WCS will be available for peanuts.

Keep in mind a number of solid NBA wings have been grabbed by NBA teams for peanuts. If the price is low I'd take a shot at him it wouldn't hurt to have a true SG (emphasis on shooting) on the team besides Lavine.

Also as its already been said McLemore is young compared to Wes. Hell he is still younger than smiling Wes was his rookie year. At least even though they are low volume McLemore's percentages are going up. I'll also say that smiling Wes isn't a good NBA player he ain't a bad bench player. I'd never want to bring him back to MN because of how his career panned out here but teams that keep getting him for the Vet min are doing reasonably well for a guy that can play decent defense and hit some 3's.

Having said all that how is are the Wolves a better fit than the Kings? Where/when is he going to play? I would think going to a team like the Cavs would sound better he may have a shot to get into the rotation maybe. I guess IF his defense is for real maybe he would get minutes right away with the Wolves.
