I hope as usual Darren is just being an idiot on this one.

Why you don't like Lee?

I don't like the resources it would take to sign a guy who will not win games for us. I just don't see any reason to commit resources to a guy like Courtney Lee, limiting our flexibility going forward.

I like Lee, but we've already got LaVine, Wiggins, and Dunn who can play the 2. We need a SF/PF or a C.

Deng or Mahinmi make sense to me right now.

I like those 2 also. Indy letting Mahinmi go really surprised me, because he was popular there with the fans and the media. I know there are teams that will pay him starter's money, so the only way we would spend a lot on him would be if Thibs could see him starting at C next to KAT...not out of the question. I like his rebounding and defense a lot.

I like Courtney Lee a lot for a reasonable sum. The same goes for Horford, Mahinmi, Deng, Aldrich, Dudley and Lee. I hope we get at least one of them.

I really like Dieng, but I'd be willing to try starting Mahinmi at the 5 with Towns in the same way KG started here this past year, though I'd give Mahinmi 26 minutes a game. He could focus on defense and let Towns spend a little more energy offensively early on. Then when Dieng comes off the bench, he could focus a bit on offense as well. Both Dieng and Towns were statistically stronger at the 4 last year.

Mahinmi can also play both ways a bit, which is great, and he's happy to focus on defense, which would be great for us. He and Towns down low would anchor our defense pretty well. Plus you'd still have Dieng, Dunn, Bazz and Bjelica coming off the bench. Actually, Tyus, Dunn, Bazz, Bjelica, and Dieng is not a bad lineup in its own right.

Rubio
Lavine
Wiggins
Towns
Mahinmi

I'd probably prefer to get Deng than Mahinmi. With Mahinmi, we may also want to go get a 3 point specialist, but but I think those two would be the best, most logical choices.

Great analysis, drew...I'm on board with Mahinmi. I wonder if 24/2 would be enough? If so, we actually might have room under the cap for both Mahinmi and Deng.

Ricky, Horford would make a significant impact providing a solid return on investment. With the dollars being what they are, what would the rest on your list do? I'd take Deng if we could get a similar deal to what Big Al got in Indy, but I'm not giving him over 12 million per.

I'm not in the camp that believes trying to extend Dieng this summer will somehow mean getting a bargain. Thus given the contracts we're seeing for players of his caliber and less, do you explore his trade market and see what kind of value they may get in return? I have to believe that if Dieng finds himself back in a bench role he'll likely be very interested in finding a new home that could offer a starting position.

If he's going to be too expensive to keep, and unlikely to want to stay, when are they best off trying to get a return on their investment?
