Where does Durant play next year?
Re: Where does Durant play next year?
If Durant went to Golden State it would be even worse than the decision in my mind. At least Lebron was building something in Miami, this would just be title chasing. I have too much respect for KD to think he would make such a lame move, and to a legitimate rival at this point. I vote OKC.

Some interesting stuff on the Barriero show from the always perceptive AP Sports Guy Jon K. On this topic, he sided with the majority here who think Durant signs a 1-year deal to save his max for next year when it will be more rich.
But he added another interesting thought. He said Durant's tour of other teams this summer has little to do with this year, but is actually all about next year. And Jon said the Wolves definitely need to insert themselves in the process, since they will have as much cap space as any team in 2017 and also some interesting pieces that might intrigue Durant. He thinks the Wolves need to get themselves on Durant's interview schedule this summer to begin talking about 2017.

It's "take credit for being first on a prediction" day, so I'm bumping this thread to give credit to TRKO, me and the 3rd brilliant guy who predicted KD would choose the Warriors. Loyalty is a wonderful quality, but it will never make Oklahoma City as appealing as living in the Bay Area. In retrospect, his decision was a no-brainer.

I really hope these players don't romanticize the big coastal cities like you do, but they probably do, as does espn unfortunately. It is the NBA after all and image and fashion is important.

For me it's not a big coastal city thing, Jerry. I've lived in MSP and I've lived in LA, and I'll take the Twin Cities over LA any day. But I've also visited OkC and the Bay Area, and quality of life in the Bay Area has it all over Oklahoma...if you can afford it, which Kevin can. It wasn't just here but in most of the media that everyone assumed KD would return to OkC because he's a good guy and they were so close to winning. I'm guessing most of those people who thought that way have never spent much time in Oklahoma :) . Being a good guy and wanting to get out of Oklahoma City for the Bay Area are not mutually exclusive to me.
I'll still join everyone and cheer against GS next year because I always cheer against superteams. But I don't think any less of KD because he made this choice.

I remember watching Kevin Love painfully tell a report that he liked playing in Minneapolis. You really couldn't believe it. But how you and I choose a home is different than someone making 30 million dollars a year. He could buy 20 homes in one year's salary and can fly wherever he wants in the world. So I don't understand if these guys really "live" where they play or not. If I was in his shoes, I would be happy to play anywhere in the world for that money and if my team was winning. But I'm not any of these players, so I guess I don't understand.

For Durant I doubt location had much if anything to do with him leaving.
