The way the league is set up is to allow these top 5-10 players to continuously sign 2 year deals, and championship hunt. That will be with organizations that have established winning cultures. We are far from there, maybe at least 5-10 years from there.

I still very well doubt he comes here, but i'd love to have him. Even with Deng, I'd say we are still hunting for .500 next season. Deng is going to make the transition from a new offensive/defensive scheme a lot easier than if there wasn't an ex-thibs player on our roster. I don't think Wiggins, LaVine, and Towns improve enough to carry our team to .500 in the West without the presence of KG/Prince (without them i would say we likely hover around 30ish wins). But if you add Deng, i think we very well end up at least .500 in Thibs' first year in the West. Again, Deng just isn't an improvement on the court. His presence will make a difference in practice/locker room for questions/explanations of schemes.

Doubtful. The cap is still gonna jump next off season I think around 10-20 million more (ESPN said from projected 89-109 and I think it's like 94-97 right now). Combine that with KG's 8 million dollar expiring and we could realistically give anyone 18 million that wouldn't even touch the extra cap space we already have now which is close to the max if not the max.

I agree with this, assuming the team remains healthy as they did last year. It's also why I'm not really interested in signing anything less than a star player to a contract longer than two years.

I don't think so, cool...next year should be a very good cap year for us. The cap goes up and $20 million of salaries disappear with Pek and KG, and that combination allows us to sign anyone we want to. I think Jon K is thinking just like you when he says we should be wining and dining Durant right now, to try to convince him to join us in 2017-8 (assuming he signs a 1-year max this year). I think signing Deng could get us over 50 wins (along with the improvement of our kids and the impact of Thibs), and a guy like Durant might see us as a very attractive landing place.
