39 Wins

Post by Leado01 »

Anyone believe we can get to 39 wins given that we face a very tough 2nd 1/2 of the season?

I do, and the reason is Brandon Rush.

This team is close to playing .500 basketball (with the highest +_ of any team outside the top 7 in the west). They lose on defensive and mental errors . . . they lose because we are determined to develop this very young team in spite of all the mistakes. I think we can play .500 and still develop KAT/Wig/Dunn with an additional vet on the floor.

I'm kind of glad this happened. I'm tired of losing

Granted... Brandon Rush never started on a team that even won 38 games before last season.

But his team won 73 games last season. Was he a bigger reason for that ahead of Curry, Thompson, Green, Barnes, Iguodala, Bogut, Livingston, Barbosa and Ezeli?

I'm not sure.

So 20-11 the rest of the way? I'm not feeling it but it's not completely nuts either.

If this team wins 39 games Brandon Rush probably has to play somewhat well. I think a few of us thought he was going to get some decent minutes and be a bit of the reason the team would be better this year. That's happened some recently when his number has been called after struggling early including not being healthy. I like what Abe said about Rush. Will the Wolves be better the rest of this year without Lavine? Idk it's not like the Wolves have some obvious better player than Lavine to step up. At this point I'm just hoping the Wolves keep playing around .500 the rest of the year. I'm more pessimistic about the playoffs without Lavine. It's looking right now like an interesting race for that last spot still nobody is out of it with around 30 games to go in the season.

I'm just not seeing it. We have proven we can beat bad teams somewhat consistently but that's about it. Zach is out which may shake things up a bit but I doubt it moves the needle enough to go 20-11. I'd say winning 35 games at this point might be the ceiling. Just last game we were up 18 and lost. A team capable of going 20-11 doesn't let that happen.

20-11, not gonna happen IMO. At this point if they continue to win half their games I'll take it. At some point for this team to make real progress Wiggins and KAT are going to have to learn to play angry and I just don't see it.

Towns has had times where he has played angry. He has it in him.

Lead01, it's always good to hear from you. But I'm afraid you are kidding yourself if you think we have any shot whatsoever at 39 wins. This team doesn't have it in them.

Thibs needs to really sit down with Layden and figure out what kind of veteran players they need to bring in to add some heart and toughness to this team.

Unless heart and toughness are contagious then I don't think simple additions will do the job.

Agreed. 21 year olds don't become champions. A few key veteran pickups that can handle physical play and don'the make mistakes would go a long way to helping this team.
