Olympics thread

Post by Monster »

It's getting close to real games. For team USA. It seems like at great on the Olympics makes sense.

I know some people don't think this team USA is all that but I think it's plenty good. For one thing I have a feeling that there will be plenty of international teams that have a problem with both Deandre Jordan and Cousins. The level of skill and athletic ability that team USA brings in this squad is tough to deal with. The guards are still really good. You have guys that can play 3 positions. I think some international teams will have a tough time guarding a guy like Detozan when he plays. In addition some teams have some player out. If Spain had Marc Gasol that would make things a lot more interesting and that's still a pretty good team but I think team USA does their thing.

It will be interesting to see how some guys that are new to the NBA like Alex Abrines perform in the Olympic stage. Who earns themself a contract out of these games? I bet someone will get signed afterwards to some kind of a deal with some team.

Did you see the quote from KAT he wants Spain to win because his teammate is on that team? Dunn was my guy in the draft, but to compliment Ricky, not replace.

Looking forward to seeing how my Aussie team will perform. Hoping for our first Olympic medal in men's basketball, but there is so much depth in world basketball these days. Over half our team has NBA experience, but honestly, we'll be lucky to be anywhere near medal contention.

I think you guys meant Wiggins not KAT. I am glad Wiggins is supporting his teammate.

Are they really having people swim in the water? I thought it was just sailors. Apparently they've cleaned the bodies out of the water, but yeah, lots of untreated sewage, including some superbacteria from hospitals. Yuck! Makes you appreciate having clean water, that's for sure.

Sadly to say I am not looking forward to the Olympics this year. Nobody can compete with the USA. Also so many 2nd tier countries (in terms of basketball) have some of their best players sitting out in Wiggins, marc gasol, Ben Simmons, Vazquez, Belly, noah. Some are due to injury but it really hurts because even the other non USA Games don't have the watchable aspect to them

Yes, I am looking forward to bouncing my grandkids on my knee and telling them I saw the last Olympics, and then trying to explain to them what a republican is.
