Think how much better we would feel about things if we would have gotten Nick Foles.
What continues to be forgotten is Taylor H. Was the guy that this team was developing as the young bridge water backup. There was hype of him being re backup this year. Most teams don't keep 3 QBs all season and the Vikings did that. They actually did put forth some effort into a long term backup plan. Unfortunately that was interrupted as well.
Nick Foles would make me feel better but how much better really is he than other guys that have started games and are basically backups now? Im not sure how big the gap is between him and Shaun Hill or Sanchez or a number of other guys that will be available. Again it's difficult to find a legit starting QB when you have months to plan but now they have days to make something work. Temper your expectations for now and for a few months from now too. That's not being defeatist or punting the season or whatnot it's just reality. As Sage Rosenfels told Wolfson the other day the Vikings were a playoff team with Ponder and he would rather have Shaun Hill than Ponder so they can win games with Hill. Hey remember back when the Vikings went 10-6 with the magical QB tandem of Gus Frerotte and T-Jack? The way this team is built the Vikings need less out of the QB than either of those guys had to do. Yes AP had a big season then but the leader in receptions was Bobby Wade.
Zimmer will earn his paycheck this year. Taylor H is not reason enough to not look for another option. Look at the Patriots and even Green Bay. They are always developing guys and usually they turn into assets they flip, but at least have a plan.

You mean how the Pats spent a 3rd round pick on Mallet (the pick they got from the Vikings for Moss) and later traded him for a conditional 6th or 7th rounder? :)

Well said Bleed. It's a joke if fans are really counting on Taylor at this point. Even with perfect health he's a career #2 or maybe even #3.

Katherine Webb? Bring her to town. Worth a good pick. He's ok to.
Spielman said today that people were asking ridiculous returns for guys when he called them and said he wasn't giving up high draft picks or young players for a QB. That's what it would take to get a McCarron. A team like the Bengals are one injury away from needing him AND he is cheap.

That's what I have been saying, monster...when a guy like Teddy goes down, it makes other teams appreciate their QB depth even more, and the price tag goes up. When I hear the Browns were asking for a 3rd round pick for 37-year-old Josh Mccown, I spit coffee on my keyboard. That's why I suggested an all-pro guy like Rivers (whom I think SD would love to move for a good return) would cost us a good starter and a couple picks. I see Rick finding some depth on the free agent wire...some reports they have invited a certain dog abuser to town.
Ok, now I get the love for McCarron...it's all about Katherine Webb. She's not worth a couple picks, and do we really want Brent Mussberger moving here?
