I don't know, the whole Olympic process is a total snoozefest IMO. A bunch of sports and "activities" that nobody in this country cares a lick about for 1,446 days over 4 years, but then we are supposed to get all hyped up for 14 days.....for what? And basketball? Gold in 15 of 19 Olympics? Wow....certainly is exciting that we got....oh, another gold. I get the fun for other smaller countries....but meh...

Imo there is a lot of truth to this post.

Q12543 wrote:Here is a question. Of the guys available who would you have put on the team to make it more of a team for this Olympics?

If simply given the players on the roster this year, here is what I would have done differently:

PG - Kyle Lowry
SG - Klay Thompson
SF - Kevin Durant
PF - Draymond Green
C - DeAndre Jordan

By putting Lowry and Green in place of Irving and 'Melo, ball movement and defense improve dramatically.

So they then win a platinum medal? Is Platinum too old of a reference?

One of Spain's 11 best players is Calderon. Would Calderon be the 11th best Wolf? Raduljica played serious minutes for Serbia, but not good enough for the juggernaut 16-win 2015 Wolves?

Maybe come up with something better to do than follow me around the internet calling into question what references I use and maybe not coming up with ways to win the little-known "Goldier" medal.

More on the Olympics:

They have been playing BKB at the Olympics since 1936. The US has not been the Gold medal winner 4 times. Warning: Past will be referenced

1972 - A theft of galatic proportions that changed the way the Olympics does everything, but overshadowed by Mark Spitz and the Israel Team tragedy.

1980 - The country that invaded Vietnam boycotted the Olympics held in the country that invaded Afghanistan.

1988 - John Thompson bragged about he watched zero film and how he had no idea who Arvydas Sabbonis was.

2004 - Larry Brown spent the 17 days emailing resumes and Stephon Marbury spent the 17 days complaining about Kevin Garnett. In all seriousness, only shoot-first point guards who couldn't figure out why they didn't get every call like it was some down-the-stretch game against the Jazz. That being said, most of Argentina was in their prime, also.

If the US has their best team, with an invested coach, with officials not in fear for their lives, and a President who doesn't spend way too much time on the wrong things, they will win the Gold medal.

One last question: Would the Wolves have beat Serbia for the Gold medal? I think so.

Speak for yourself. I know many people who would disagree with you. I enjoyed watching some sports you probably have no interest in. I have a friend who is a multi gold medal winner and have a relative who made the junior US world team and hopes to compete in future Olympics, and so I understand the dedication that is involved to compete at the highest level and I have watched some of the US Olympians participate in their sports thru their high school years.

Yeah, I get where Hicks is coming from, but a couple Olympics ago when my kids were real little, my family started watching them together. My wife was a swimmer and trackster in high school, so she had always been interested in those events and the Olympics is the true pinnacle of those sports. Now it's become a tradition for us to watch. Otherwise, I never watch those sports. But every four years, we get into it quite a bit.

Like I said there is some truth to what Hicks said and I assumed he was making intentional hyperbolic statements. Around here where the University of Nebraska is the big thing it's not just football. The Women's Volleyball team has been selling out for years. I'm sure there were plenty of folks around here doing what they could to watch that sport at the Olympics especially with Larson having played here a few years ago. As I spend more time around college athletics here and happen to actually know the athletes on some level it's fun to follow the Olympics because of that. I really didn't get to watch much after the first few days though. I was pretty busy and with just regular NBC over the air TV I didn't know what I was gonna be able to watch.

It's 2016 why can't we have a subscription to watch the games online. Q what would your top dollar be for an online on demand subscription to the the Olympics? I'm thinking I'd maybe go as high as $50.

Monster, We just watched the standard NBC stuff in the evenings, so I never really contemplated watching by myself or on line. I'd probably not be willing to pay much. It's one of those things where I can take it or leave it. I got hooked in because of the "family time" thing and everyone was pretty satisfied with what they showed on NBC, which is free of course.

Ah well my wife wasn't really into it so other than a couple nights that wasn't a draw for our household. I should have hooked up the other TV and I could have watched a bit more in the evenings. I'd pay a few bucks just to be able to watch more of the basketball games in the Olympics. And again who watches stuff live (or even tape delayed on network...) anyway? I mentioned Sling tv to my wife and said it was mostly just live and she basically said it was worthless then. Lol
