TR's Composite Player Rankings for Last Season

Post by TeamRicky [enjin:6648771] »

I had some extra time on my hands so I ranked our 16 rostered players from last year based on 6 different valuation metrics: Player Efficiency Rating or PER, True Shooting Percentage, Real Plus Minus, Defensive Rating, Roto 10 Category Player Ranker, and Minutes Per Game (coach love) and then I averaged their rankings on the team and came up with a composite ranking:

Giving all six metrics equal weight, I have listed them by average rank, (1 for 1st to 16 for 16th):
1. Towns 2.5 (best in PER and Roto10)
2. Dieng 2.7 (best in True Shooting, top 3 in all but Minutes (5th))
3. Rubio 3.7 (best in RPM, top 4 in all but True Shooting (10th))
4. Wiggins 5.7 (best in Minutes, 4th in PER and Roto10)
5 (tie) Lavine 6.7 (ranked 4th-7th in all but RPM (11th))
5. (tie) Belly 6.7 (ranked 3rd in True Shooting, but 11th in PER)
7. KG 6.8 (best in Defensive Rating, but 9th in True Shooting and 11th in Minutes)
8. Miller 9.0 (2nd in True Shooting)
9. Bazz 9.5 (5th in PER, 7th in Minutes, 16th in RPM)
10. KMart 10.3 (6th in Minutes, 8th in PER)
11. Tyus 10.7
12 (tie) Prince 11.3
12 (tie) Smith 11.3
14. Rudez 12.8
15 (tie) Payne 13.2
15 (tie) Pek 13.2

Good work Ricky. It looks about right to me if I were to just flat out rank guys off the top of my head in terms of their on-the-floor contribution to last season. I think we all hope that Wiggins and LaVine surpass Rubio and Dieng at some point, because when that happens, we'll be winning a lot more games.

Interesting stuff. The thing that jumps out at me is that Pek was tied with Payne for futility. What a shame.
