Wolves announce coaching and other personnel hires

Post by Monster »

Jon K covers it all here.

I am a homer and obviously so don't know all these guys but it seems like a pretty legit group of guys they put together some of them seem like pretty high level hires. Not only did the Wolves get a let GM type in Layden but they beefed up with 2 more assistant guys with pretty good resumes for the front office. I would be interested what some of the folks that have more inside info/closer to the team etc think of all these hires.

I'll see if I can get anything at breakfast tomorrow morning, because I know nothing about these guys. I have heard through the media that the shooting coach is a very good get.

I have no clue who these guys are, as I've never really followed coaches and front office folks that closely. But anytime you get someone with the Spurs attached to their name, they must be pretty good, right?

Right! Peter Patton certainly sounds interesting.

It looks like a few of the guys have prior connections to Thibs. Can't wait to get this thing going!

I wonder if Thibs has compared notes with Zimmer at all. Two different sports obviously, but both seem to have a similar mindset and Thibs seems like the kind of guy that is obsessed with getting better.

The one issue that should be interesting to follow is the whole fit thing with Thibs and this roster. Usually a coach needs a couple leaders on the floor that echo his personality. Noah, Gibson, and Butler seemed to do that in Chicago. Dunn certainly seems to personify that tough, defensive-oriented personality, but I'm not sure if anyone else really does to a T.

It's been said Thibs and Belicheck have spend time together and I would guess Thibs and Zimmer will spend some time at some point. I don't know if Thibs had much time for that after taking over since he had to get things rolling and had team USA stuff this summer.

Also Alan Horton tweeted out

" 2 players on Wolves roster with experience playing for Thibs - John Lucas III (51g '10-'12 in CHI) & Rasual Butler (6g '10/'11 in CHI)."

So...I guess Thibs hasn't exactly gone after just his guys. I would say there are some guys they brought in or kept that were weren't tied at all to Thibs or Layden.

I thought it was an interesting homecoming with Scott Roth as one of the new scouts.
