Who wins the championship

Post by KiwiMatt »

Who do you think will win the championship? GSW are favourites but can the Spurs knock them out? Or can a healthy Cavs team get revenge for last seasons finals?

I said Spurs. As long as Pop's coaching in the NBA, he'll have my full confidence heading into the playoffs.

I'm hoping for the Spurs but expecting it to be the Warriors. I just don't think any team can beat them 4 of 7 right now.

Hopefully, the Warriors.

Anybody but Cleveland.

I'm rooting for the Spurs this year because I'm tired of Draymond Green and jealous of Steph Curry. I can be bitter and jealous, can't I?

......but I voted for the Warriors. They are the defending champs and actually got better this year. That's scary and I'm not sure even the Spurs can stop them.

I'll take a bit of a contrarian view and take the Spurs. They are tied for the 5th best regular season record and 3 of their loses were to GS. That's a damn good team and Pop is a terrific coach. Assuming we get the Spurs vs GS in the WCF I am gonna have to make it a priority to watch those games.

Usually I think throw out the regular season, playoffs are a new season anyone who made it deserves to win it if they play well. This year however, GS and the Spurs were on a completely different level then every other team, it would be a shame for one of them to not win the title.

If there's one team that can knock out GSW it's the Spurs. I smell an upset.

This seems like it could also be a good playoffs thread. Does anyone have any upset picks? A guy I work with picked the Blazers as an upset over the Clippers in the first round. I liked that pick that could be a fun series.

I'll take Dallas over Oklahoma City as an upset pick. Dallas is 7-3 over their last 10, Oklahoma City is just 5-5. Carlisle's arguably the second best coach in basketball right now. He's been there, won a championship. Donovan's a rookie coach. The Thunder have been prone to losing close games (15 games lost by five or less points). Thunder did sweep regular season against the Mavs, but we know the playoffs are a different beast. The game slows down, coaching is magnified and I still have a lot of trust/faith in Dirk Nowitzki to hit big shots.
