Draymond suspended

Post by khans2k5 [enjin:6608728] »

Wow. That's all I can say. How can he be suspended now and not in the Thunder series? I guess that's the difference between doing it to Lebron versus Adams. I'd be pissed if I was the Thunder. I guess Lebron can keep just doing whatever the hell he wants on the court with no repercussions.

Edit: The twitter posts I saw that started this thread mentioned nothing of it being a flagrant foul causing the suspension. They just said he was suspended so I assumed the league folded under the pressure and suspended him. Either way he's out for game 5.

You know, you are not doing yourself any favors by expressing a view point that is so far from reality...

;-)

Green was only assessed a flagrant 1 foul for the incident. The only reason he is suspended is because his flagrant foul points reached a point where a 1-game suspension was mandated.

As for OKC, they won the game that Green could have been suspended for but was allowed to play.

Draymond received a Flagrant 1 for his swipe at LeBron's groin. That upgrade is 100% well-deserved. You can only give a guy the benefit of the doubt so many times before you realize that it's enough. That flagrant put him over the playoff limit so this he's suspended for one game. It's not the league's fault that he's suspended; it's Draymond's.

LeBron received a technical for physically taunting. I guess that's fair, though I'd love to see how anyone on this board reacted if a grown man not only tried to hit you in your groin, but also called YOU a bitch after he did such a thing.

So Draymond shouldn't be allowed to react when Lebron throws him to the ground and walks over him? That makes sense. Let the superstar do whatever the fuck he wants with no consequences. Lebron is a bitch for that play and Draymond retaliated. But I didn't see the Draymond play as an intentional low blow. It was an unintentional swipe after Lebron's bullshit play. If you saw an intentional low blow then you're blinded by your hatred for Green.

Was Lebron a punk in this game to some sort of extent? Yeah I think he was but he was also dealing with a guy that's racked up all these flagrant and technical fouls just in this playoffs so I'm willing to give Lebron a bit of a pass here. Draymond earned that suspension. Whether you think that was a swipe at the groin or just a swipe he made contact and so his intent was not to give Lebron a friendly hug. Intent is a big reason why they hand out punishment.

History is another and I think in this case they gave him the upgrade based on his recent history and not for intent. There's no way to determine intent especially when it is a flailing shot and not a precise one.

Yes history comes into play. I'm sure that had a lot to do with way D. Jones got the suspension for his contact to Biyombo.

To me judging intent on these plays if you have any reasonable thought the guy intended to do whatever it was that happened then you have to assume that's what he intended to do. You can't get in that guy's brain and see what he was trying to do. Even if you gave Draymond (or a number of players including in these situations) truth serum he might not be able to tell you exactly what he was trying to do on that play but he intended to do something that was not positive. It's a judgement call and like it's been said here by everyone Green has put himself in position to not get the benefit of the doubt. He has gotten away with plenty this year and a lot of it was obviously something he intended to do.

If another man stepped over me I wouldn't feel such a personal pride hit that i'd completely undermine that pride and try to strike him in his groin. If someone gives you a dirty look, or makes a comment you dislike, can you legally strike them? Green is dirty, there is no way to argue against that. I'd agree with giving a guy the benefit of the doubt if he never had done anything like this before. But he has been in this situation numerous times, and it's very recent. The boy who cried wolf comes to mind here. The league made the right call. If I was OKC, I would be upset, because Green deserved to be suspended for that as well. At the same time, OKC should understand that the league followed their process, and followed through now that Green has done it again.

Your hatred for LeBron seems to be what is blinding here. He's a superstar, money making machine. The NBA has always been star driven, and superstars have always gotten the tacky foul calls. I don't blame LeBron or any other star for taking advantage of what is there for all stars take, and what is part of the game. That is not the case here though as hitting someone in the groin has no place anywhere.

This is the NBA dude. They all have the personal pride to not just take it when they get thrown to the ground and get stepped over. That's a big sign of disrespect in the NBA. That's why you barely ever see it on purpose as Lebron did. If it was common place the comparison to Iverson stepping over Lue wouldn't have come up immediately. If the opposite happened where Draymond threw Lebron to the ground and walked over him everyone would be all over him and he would have got a flagrant just for that and Lebron probably wouldn't have even received a tech for retaliating.

Green has to know he was strattling the line with league officials. If he can't keep his emotions in check in a big game then he deserves what comes his way . He's been making this bed for a while . Time to jump on in it.
