Doesn't Noel have the potential to be Noah type player? I think he has all the tools to be.

I think Noel for the #5 would be great. I really would be shocked if Philly made this move at this point though. I know there are rumors in this way, but I just don't get it. Noel seems to be an ideal complimentary big, especially next to Okafor. Good D, athletic. The whole thing is strange to me. But bring him over, I think he is way more than what we're looking at in the draft at the 5 spot.

I would go Okafor over Noel. I just think his rebounding, passing, and offense is just so dangerous next to Towns and was a player considered at #1 in a strong draft. Noel wouldnt be a a top 5 pick last year. Okafor would sure be a top 3 pick this year

I was going to say Noah is a far superior passer (which he is for now), but Noel certainly seems capable of finding the open guy, having averaged 2.1 assists per 36 minutes in his first two seasons. That doesn't sound like a lot, but it's pretty damn good for a low usage defensive big on the worst team in basketball.

I'm generally a fan of RPM as a data point, to be integrated with other data points. You tend to use it as the end-all/be-all stat, which it isn't. One thing your analysis ignores is age. Noel is the youngest guy on that list.

It might seem that way, but I look at all stats. I just think RPM might be the most useful single stat out there. I was a big fan of Noel coming out of college, but he hasn't developed as much as I would have expected. He's young but he hasn't yet shown to be very good offensively despite some good defensive stats. He'd have to improve a lot offensively before I'd want him starting ahead of Dieng. I'd just rather sign a guy like Aldrich, draft the BPA at 5 and extend Dieng as opposed to getting Noel and signing him in a year to a big contract.

I don't really get all the love for G. Dieng. He's a nice player. Decent rotation big.

But I have a sneaky suspicion his stock wouldn't be nearly this high if he were playing for the New Orleans Pelicans or Milwaukee Bucks instead of the Wolves.

I was going to write that Nerlens Noel had shown the potential to be an elite defensive player. Although that stat above shows him as a worse defender than defensive stalwarts Ryan Anderson and Bjelica. So I stand corrected...
