Completely agree on the case for #5 and Wiggins for Butler is to much for us. I love Butler, ideally him with Wiggins and KAT as a trio is off the charts. We can replace Dieng, we can fill Lavines with a FA, and the #5 could be something we offer especially if Thibs game plan is trading back and getting perhaps Chicagos 1st rounder in return. I don't know....
Getting better talent is what this team needs, and I like the rumors because that means Thibs is willing to go get it or entertain it. For to many years I have complained that the Wolves always sounded scared to go after players. But with the direction of youth, salary cap and a top teir coach now...it's time to be ballsy IMO. No more complacency damn it! Lol.
But to trade away talent with low contract price tags including high draft picks is to much at this point in the build. One more year perhaps.
Actually, KAT, Butler and Wiggins isn't necessarily a winning combination. We'd be very weak behind the arc with that combo. KAT would be our best 3-point shooter by far in that lineup. That wouldn't work in today's NBA. Oh, then there's Butler's consistent inability to play more that 67 games.
Bulls get: #3 2016 (BOS) / Amir Johnson / Muhammad / J. Mickey / #23 2016 (BOS)
Celtics get: #5 2016 (MN) / J. Butler
MN gets: J. Crowder / B. Portis / #16 2016 (BOS)
Love it as a Wolves fan.
To me it looks like you're giving up #5 and one role player, for 3 role players.
Yea why would the Wolves be in the business of doing Boston favors? Boston would need to pony up A LOT more to justify getting the best player and only moving down 2 spots. If anything the 5th pick would be staying put in Minnesota and at that point the Wolves have no reason to be in the trade unless to take salary.
The best move for the wolves with regards to the 5th pick is the simplest one to make and that is draft the BPA at 5. Im a fan of butler but he is not a fit to this team. Go the simplest and obvious route and that is o build the team around Towns and Wiggins. We have lavine, rubio and dieng who are keepers. The 5th pick and cap space for the next 2 years to sign free agents. Build with that.

Jae Crowder is a strong, tough defender with a consistent 3 point shot. He'd be a fantastic addition.
Portis showed flashes of what he could be as a PF in the league. I liked what I saw from the handful of games I watch of him.
The #16 pick is icing on the cake. Would Wade Baldwin be available?
I would legitimately consider the #5 pick to Boston for Jae Crowder and Amir Johnson. I'm super high on Crowder.

Let's be honest that's a crappy trade for the Bulls. If that's the best they can do they will just keep Butler which they will do.
