He will always be a divisive player because he is so unique both in his abilities and character. Some serious talent, and some serious warts in his game and presumably in his personality. I was glad to see him have a bounce back game, fuelled by hustle that I don't remember seeing from him in a while. My main reason for wanting him to do well was I didn't want to feel dellusional for thinking he was a talented player in the past. I hope the light went off for Love last night, his role on this team has to be hustle first and things will go fine for him.
Right, but do you think that's really a role Love will embrace?
I just don't see it. I think he and his agent will encourage a move by the Cavs and I doubt the Cavs are dead set on keeping him. The issue might be whether they feel they can get something of roughly equal value in return.....It doesn't have to be 95 cents on the dollar, but it can't be 50-cents either.
But Q that's actually who Love is at least the part about him rebounding the ball and getting junk baskets. He did that his rookie year all the way though to his terrific last season with the Wolves. He can't always live in the paint because that's where TT is and you need to be able to drive the ball but he can't just stand at the 3 point line. If he forces he way hour he better look for a team that has some legit passing PG play (and/or a good offensive coach) or he will be somewhat wasted there too. It's not that Love isn't a good player he is but he does so many good things that help when you have a player or players that understand how to get guys the ball.
Does Love want to be Melo putting up numbers for the Knicks or a Tony Kukoc? I think he might take another ride on the Cavs championship train with Lue who seemed to at least have a philosophy (getting up and down the floor) that fit better than whatever Blatt was trying.

Monster, he definitely started off his career as a rebounder extraordinaire, but as his offensive touches went up and he stretched his game out beyond the arc, his rebounding came back down to earth a bit - and that was all started to happen before Cleveland. I don't expect him to suddenly embrace going back to that role, and frankly, I'm not sure he's physically cut out for it anymore.
As for whether he chooses to further sacrifice his personal numbers in Cleveland to chase another ring or two......we shall see. I don't think it happens, but it's just as much, if not more, in Cleveland's hands as it is in Love's hands.

Looking at Loves stats his overall rebounding his last year with the Wolves wasn't that far off what he was doing most of his career except that 15rpg year. The difference was around 1 less offensive reb per game from the 4-3orpg range. Before that he was pretty much a 4 offensive rebounds per game guy every year which this year in the regular season would have put him in the top 5 in that category along wit his teammate in TT. Mostly I am offering a counterpoint to what you are saying but Love said he wanted to do what it took to win and he just won. Brian Scalabrine said in a recent podcast that chasing a championship is something you want so bad and he found it was something he wanted to do badly again even if it was just as a coach which was why he took the job at GS.
You are right it isn't just up to Love and the Cavs have moved on from other guys and obviously it will be up to Lebron as well. Like LST I don't think they find something they will like plus I don't buy that all the drama we hear about is significant as it is made out to be. It's not sun shine and rainbows with Love etc but I am not sure it's always rain clouds either. They did just win a championship after changing coaches in the middle of a season which is a little amazing in and of itself.
