Is anyone interested in Minnesota United?

Post by Monster »

I saw that a couple of the Nebraska Women's soccer seniors got drafted yesterday and then saw that Minnesota United had the first pick in the. MLS superdraft. It's kinda funny that teams have a 4 minute time out they can use during the draft. Anyway I found the whole process a bit interesting and the Loon logo is pretty sweet. Enjoying Soccer is a relatively new thing for me but I do like the sport. Is there anyone else that has sole passing interest in this new MN sports franchise? I have thought a few times about going down to KC to see a game but I haven't got around to it.

For me soccer is a lot like baseball, I cannot be bothered unless we're talking playoff baseball or Olympic soccer. Both games are far too slow paced for my attention span, but the World Series and Olympic soccer both carry the excitement where every run, every goal, could be the difference between winning a championship or gold medal or being the quickly forgotten runner up.

I honestly think I could be a gold medalist if they ever add run on sentence writing to the Olympics!

A have a few friends that teach writing at a small college. My guess is they could find some competition for you if you need some! Lol

The thing that is great about soccer is that generally speaking it's less than 2 hours. You know what you are gonna get. That's part of why other sports are considering length of the game as soccer is gain popularity. If it's a tourney game you don't care how long it goes.

A few weeks ago I went to an NCAA Women's soccer tourney game where it went to kicks after 2 overtime periods and it was terrific even though I was cold. Nebraska's keeper shut out South Dakota state and Nebraska won. The only game that may have been better was when Nebraska's keeper Emma Stevens (who is getting married to Jeremiah Sirles next month) scored a crazy wind aided goal over the head of the opposing kicker that finished off a regular season big 10 championship. That game was cold and rainy but it was worth it. :)
