Belly was pretty darn good
You're right. I just think it's funny that Wiggins seems to be the only player on the team who gets questioned for being engaged. They're all young, and all are very variant in their effort and results. Sam gets a C for preparing this team as a whole to give full effort every night. It's not just Wiggins, it's a problem across the board.

Well... The questioning as far as Wiggins goes is completely justified. Other guys might not play well, but you can tell the effort level is there. He's primarily the disengaged one, and that can't happen when you're as talented and physically gifted as he is.

But the effort level isn't always there, that's my point. They dont get played well and get worked, which is why our D can be crap. Often Wiggins is the only one with a motor. It has been disproportionate and unequally applied to the lazy, disengaged performances from the rest of the team.

Sure... The point is that Wiggins is a supposed star player. That can't happen and there's no excuse for it on his end. None. The bold line isn't true, by the way. You can almost always pencil in Rubio, Towns and Dieng for effort. Wiggins isn't as consistent in that regard.

So as a 20 year old his motor should be judged differently than say Zach because of hype? Zach's motor has been shit plenty this year. Towns and Dieng get caught sleeping all the time. I love how people judge how hard someone is trying, it is the most subjective thing you can say. The story has gotten tired.
1. Gotta love how you contradict yourself in your very own post. You (and others too) get pissy because myself and others point out when Wiggins is playing with half-assed effort, but then you say LaVine's motor has been shit. Where do you draw the line? It's only acceptable to do so if thedoper agrees with it? Come on. Am I wrong there?
2. Towns and Dieng get caught out of position from time to time, but it's not due to effort. It's because of a misread or in Towns' case it's because he's a rookie still learning little nuances of the game. Downright laughable to even compare Towns and Wiggins' motors, though. One burns every second of the game every game, the other is a mystery from quarter to quarter. There's a reason Towns wins more 50/50 balls. Hustle and energy can't be taught.
3. The story has gotten old, I agree. I wish it would go away. I wish Andrew would show up every game, but sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes you can just see how lifeless he is on the court. I hate seeing a player that doesn't look like he wants to be out there. There's always been two personalities to Andrew on the court. One is hungry and will consistently attack the defense, usually getting anything he wants on offense, getting out in transition, and competing defensively. The other is lazy, settles far too much offensively, rarely is seen sprinting on the break, and can be seen getting beat by inferior players. I don't think it's a surprise that we often see Wiggins perform well when he's going against a premier name. I'm glad that big matchups get him hyped, but he needs to bring that same energy when going against lesser players too. That's when he'll take a star-like jump in his career.
Note: I thought Wiggins was good tonight. I thought he brought it against a very underrated Gordon Hayward. My above comments are referring to Andrew Wiggins' career to this date, not specifically tonight.
A lifeless 20ppg scorer? This type of language is exactly what I mean by getting old. When you say you see it clearly you don't. I don't think you have any idea when a professional athlete is giving effort. But thanks again for your baseless judge of effort.

So, you believe Wiggins brings the same effort every single night?

oh please, his effort was questioned by his own teammates.
