I agree. It also doesn't hurt that Dieng is not starting material and likely will never be more then a fringe starter.

I also would like to see Wiggins and LaVine paired up together as much as possible too. I think they started to build some on court chemistry last year and it would help them to continue to do that. If this season is about developing lets do it now. It sounds like LaVine is showing enough that he will not be just handed the job. (Prince and Wiggins comments)

I remember when most everyone loved Dieng and hated Bazz. Its funny how many people have changed their opinion. I am still a fan of Dieng and surprised how little he's appreciated. This summer gave a glimpse of how good Dieng could become and I think he could be one of the most improved players this year (along with Zach).

I think now is the time to see if Dieng can become something before he's written off as a backup. He's worked on his game and deserved a chance. Towns is still very green.

Just watching Dieng it is tough to project him ever becoming a starter at center. The guy has no base and is not athletic enough to compensate for it. If he is starting for you that it is a mismatch in favor of the other team. I don't see that changing at this point. His future is good 3rd 4th big.

If he proves to not be starter worthy then we just wasted a couple months seeing if he can start instead of developing the continuity of the starting lineup with Towns in there. I think Towns will have enough foul trouble early where Dieng will see some minutes with our starters and can prove if he's improved enough to be the starter then without the potential wasted time. I would rather Towns get in foul trouble and then bring in Dieng instead of playing Dieng for 8-10 minutes and then having to go back in right away if Towns picks up a couple quick ones.

I don't see how it's hate. Towns is the much more talented player who this franchise is 100% invested in to be a star player. That's what it comes down to.

If the team was bad enough to get the first pick in the draft u don't throw out a starting unit that lost u all those games the year prior or any unit close to it. U justify the pick by starting them right out of the gate .

Dieng doesn't have to start to see what we have in him this year assuming he stays healthy. He will get minutes. Mitchell is drling guys on being more fundamental defensively. Dieng is one guy that slid that sticks with him it will make a big difference. I know he has shown a poor base etc but it just seems like some of the things he does or doesn't do could be corrected by coaching or fitting into a scheme. I am not suggesting Mitchell and this staff are going to fix the defense and Dieng but I haven't given up on him being above average there. this is a key year for him though before the Wolves may need to make a decision on him because he will likely have plenty of value.
