@ Alex
Soft tissue damage can be tricky and more complicated than a simple bone break. And Rubio is over the ankle injury. It's a difference minor muscle problem that kept him out of practice. He's ready for the season.
But you obviously have a long standing agenda of yours.

I guess I'll have to trust your advanced medical degree on this one

Please explain to me how there is more muscle atrophy with an ankle sprain vs a broken leg? I've both severely sprained one ankle, and broken both my tibia/fibula at my ankle on the other leg. Doctors do say its better to break your ankle than to severely sprain it because of the strain on ligaments and that the concern of respraining an ankle is greater than rebreaking one, but broken bones take much longer to heal/recover from than ankle sprains. I'm obviously a big rubioooo fan, but the guy is prone to injury ( kudos to Porkchop ). Anyone denying that his health/recurring injuries are a big concern are definitely portraying their greatest homerism. Im hopeful for this season, but if he gets injured again we definitely have to find a new pg to move forward. Hopefully one that can hit a jump shot.

If ligament in the ankle get severely damaged and didn't heal properly then they may cause physical discomfort and pain in future.
I fell a year ago and injured an elbow, didn't break any bones, just muscle damage. So I neglected physical therapy and a full year after I still have a sore elbow that causes pain. Soft tissue can linger for years if not healed properly. That's a fact.

Re: Ricky is out
I've done both as well. I'll take a broken bone over another rotator cuff injury any day. Bones heal in 6-8 weeks. Strained/torn ligaments/tendons can last a lot longer than that.
Re: Ricky is out
Rubio had surgery in April. PG broke his leg over 6 months earlier. Durant played last night and had his 2nd surgery a couple weeks before Rubio. So if Rubio plays the next preseason game is it ok that he came back a couple days later than Durant? I don't mind people saying Rubio is injury prone etc but making a big deal of him missing the first preseason game as a precaution (which is a pretty meaningless) because of a sore muscle seems like an overreaction. I get where people are coming from but let's see how this plays out a little longer.
Keep in mind I am a big Rubio fan and have been worried about his injury history for quite a while. I don't have my head in the sand when it comes to his injuries.

Exactly, Rubio had surgery back in April! 6 months ago and he still isn't back. How people are still trying to say this is no big deal is beyond me.

He had surgery on his ankle which is healed (based on what I saw in 1st practice). He's been held out the last few games due to a quad strain. Different problem. Minor problem. There really is no need to panic. Honest. He's scheduled to play on Friday.

The quad isn't related to the ankle injury at all?

Last time I checked, the quad bone is not connected to the ankle bone. So, I think it's going to be ok.
