Who makes the final roster spot?
Re: Who makes the final roster spot?
I really hope its LoBrown or "Other". If it's Rudez i'll be even more upset about the Bennett cut because "we have a logjam at the PF position". Even if he costs 4+ more mil, it's not like we couldn't afford to give him one more year here with the potential of him showing up and actually offering some trade value.
Re: Who makes the final roster spot?
Not sure how many of you watched the live media day webcast on timberwolves.com. I caught most of it, and it was way better than they have done in recent years. In the past, most players/coaches would be interviewed by one of the Wolves PR guys with many of the questions pulled from a live chat box. But this year each player/coach was given a full press conference with media able to ask the questions. It was pretty good. I sure hope they post the interviews online, because most of them are well worth watching, and much better than reading somebody's tweet about what was said.
With that said, I will make this observation. Every Wolves player with a guaranteed contract was given their own mini press conference. Except Lo Brown who only has a partial guarantee. It sure seems to me that Lo Brown is fighting an uphill battle for a roster spot.

Re: Who makes the final roster spot?
Lo Brown is a third string PG. Problem is we have already invested in one of those in Ty Jones. We also have Zach LaVine who is more than capable of playing a bit of the point if Rubio is not ready.
I really wish we had resigned Hummel on the cheap. He would have balanced the roster out nicely with his ability to play the 3, especially now with Bennett gone.
Hummel >>> Rudez.

I think most of you are caught up way too much in Rudez's deficiencies. Many of us have yearned for Anthony Morrow in the past as a 3-point specialist who does little else. Well, we got him. But his name is Rudez.

Re: Who makes the final roster spot?
Tim, I hear you on the need for a 3-point specialist, but I actually think that concept is starting to get dated. Having a 3-pointer in one's arsenal is starting to become more and more of a necessity that most players need to add to their tool bag versus viewing it as a niche specialty. Sure, there are always going to be players that have that as their greatest strength, but in Rudez's case, it seems to be his ONLY strength. I'm not sure that's good enough anymore.

The only answer to this question is....who cares. If any of these guys are getting meaningful minutes, that means it is a lost season for our MN Timberpuppies.

Very truck Hicks, championship teams don't depend on roster spots 12 - 15. But in recent times the TWolves have become very dependent on these spots due to injury. With Pek, KG, Martin and Rubio all guaranteed to miss games it means that this discussion is more important than it should be.

Yep. And you can throw Bazz in there too. He's missed a lot of time in his short career too.
Re: Who makes the final roster spot?
Lorenzo Brown has a partial guaranteed contract so he didn't do an interview. Was that his choice? It seems more likely he declined than the Wolves saying don't interview that guy. I don't know if there is anything to read into there or not. Someone could tweet Wolfson since Brown is his guy. Lol
From what Pacers fans said Rudez is a very heady player plays within himself and makes smart basketball plays. He is the only other true volume 3 point shooter on the roster other than Martin. I think he may bring good basketball IQ to the table as well which matters when you look at a lot of his other stats that look somewhat pathetic. My issue is I just don't see him playing much over Prince and is he a guy you keep around long term?
Brown seems to be a guy with youth and potential to be a longer term bench guy and a connection to the franchise on his side. Of course or all we know they could drop both Brown and Rudez and sign Hakeem to be a backup center and mentor Dieng. Lol

No more PG's please. If we lose Rubio, it's a lost season anyway. Andrew has a brother on the team and we're thinking about NOT keeping him? Let's gamble and hope he's more Eli Manning than Cooper Manning.
