The search for a new GM
The search for a new GM
Whose your recommendation?
I'm going with Sean Marks - current assistant GM for San Antonio. Had been offered the GM job for Nets but sounds like he's turned it down (would you blame him). Marks is held in high regards by Greg Popovich and their current GM RC Buford, and is being groomed for the GM role their when Buford moves on. Marks spent a dozen years playing in the NBA as well as representing New Zealand at the 2000 & 2004 Olympics and 2002 world cup. He was also an assistant coach for the Spur during their 2013/2014 Championship season.
But the best thing about him is he is a Kiwi! :thumb:

I remember that guy. I think...
Did he have bleached-blonde hair?
EDIT: Even better...

Re: The search for a new GM
Mike Zarren would be my choice if we could get him away from Boston, but the guy's a lifelong Celtics fan currently in place to take over there when his number's called. I'm not super confident he'll leave, but he has the mind of a successful modern NBA GM. Good combination of basketball sense, logic, economics and usage of analytics. Highly respected amongst the NBA community.
If not him, how about Larry Riley? Arguably the real architect of the Golden State Warriors. Was demoted before they reached their pinnacle, but he put in some heavy lifting for that organization. Not to mention he has 23 years experience in the NBA and is currently the Director of Scouting for the Warriors. That's an area they've been supreme at and you'd think a lot of that might be because of him. We think about Curry, Thompson, Green and Barnes because they're the bigger names, but how about Ezeli and even Bazemore who they drafted, left on the bench and eventually traded to the Lakers. He has a decent track record and I bet he's hungry for another chance to be the decision maker somewhere.

Sean Marks is the Nets new GM. I would have liked someone of his caliber here and I have to think our situation is more appealing than the Nets Job, but I doubt Glen is out looking for a new GM yet.
