If we don't go with Thibs, who remains my first option by a lot, would there be some interest in Mike D'Antoni?

If defense is this teams biggest issue I don't see Mike D as the guy for the job. Haven't hs teams in years past been notoriously bad defensively?

He had a lot of success with the Suns. Not so much with the Knicks. I think his coaching style would fit well with our personnel.

My first choice remains JVG even if it meant a dual role as head coach and PBO. I'm intrigued by the idea of Calipari. I don't like Thibs' personality and I wonder whether he can be a team player as part of an organization. But he's the real deal when it comes to head coaching chops.

Dantoni is my number 3 right now. Yes he was not the greatest defensive coach but in his 4 full years in phx. His teams placed 14, 17, 14, 13th in opposing team fg%. A lot of the points given up were the pace.

I think dantoni would be a good coach with the players we have on roster. The thing is, is Rubio his type of pg,

I personally don't like D'Antoni. He can be an arrogant dick-hole at times. I don't doubt the guys has his merits as a coach (I think he is a lot better than the messes he dealt with after the Suns) and like Adelman his teams were better defensively than people realize but I'd pass on him. His age (turns 65 in May) is an issue also. If he can turn guys that are currently on the roster into amazing 3 point shooters than hire him. ;)

I will say that the Sixers are very fortunate to have someone like him as an assistant.

Can't remember the last time we hired the best head coach on the free market. That doesn't sound very Wolves-y. The Minnesota move would be to let Mitchell stay or promote someone like Sidney Lowe or Ryan Saunders. We'll probably do something in the middle like hire Vinny Del Negro or Doug Collins. That'll be a kick in the balls.

Rick Adelman was probably the best coach available or easily a top candidate when we hired him and he made sense based on the roster. It clearly didn't work out but at the time it was a dream come true.
