I'd do that deal for sure.

As a person that is 100 % PorkChop, I would trade Rubio. But if we trade Ricky, we need to get value. I would be all over it if Memphis would trade straight up Rubio for Conley.

With Gasol done for the year, they might be considering the season over. And from a team concept they can sell the Rubio and Gasol match to their fans.

Another deal that I would shoot down with quickness. Rubio's still the best player in the deal.

Memphis might be the one team that needs shooters as much as we do. I doubt Rubio fits into their plans just because he and Gasol are buds. I do agree though that it may be time for that team to tear things down. They have had a very nice run with that squad, but they are starting to age and just don't have the firepower to compete in the Western Conference.

He's a less effective version of Rubio.

And we get back 3 starters for him. I think that's way more value than what Ricky gives us by himself. Normally I would say you want the best player in any deal, but that's for stars. If we can flip any of our guys not named Lavine, Wiggins, Towns for multiple guys who can help now I think that's a win. Ariza is the 3&D wing we need next to Lavine and Wiggins. Jones is better than Belly and could even start over Dieng. Lawson is a step down from Ricky, but I think he would play a lot better as the primary ball handler as a starter here than coming off the bench for Houston and Denver's Ty Lawson pre-Shaw was a better player than Ricky. Finally it gives us vets who aren't about to retire to help us win games. Then we could draft BPA because we'd fill multiple holes with this one deal.

Lawson is atrocious defensively. That'd be a massive downgrade. Ariza's defense has fallen off a cliff this year too. Not to mention his 12.39 PER doesn't exactly help him either. He's part of the problem in Houston. We'd have to pay Jones quite a good amount of money before next year. I think that trade makes us much worse.

We could keep Ricky and throw a whole lot of money at Batum, Barnes, etc. and be in a better situation.
