Yeah right.
IMO you don't need to dig it up I remember it well enough. Lol It kinda sucks to be right sometimes. It will be interesting if Martin is willing to go the route of buyout. It sounds like there will be some fairly worthwhile players on the market soon.
Martin's value to us is either opting out this off-season which provides us with about $7M more to play with in free agency or opting in so we can use his contract in a potential draft time trade to land a really nice veteran player (Gallo, anybody?). There's still some use for him.

Potential value, but should he opt in and the Wolves cannot move him prior to free agency then just like this year, he has a negative value to the team. Honestly, I will not be shocked for him to opt in and be on the Wolves roster for a good part of next season which is why I would have been happy to simply dump him.
A bird in hand, $7M worth, is better than two in the bush!
I wouldn't be so sure. That, to this point, doesn't seem like something Newton wants to do. Other NBA teams likely didn't offer anything of value because he is a buyout candidate, but there's really zero incentive for the Wolves to do that right now.

I remember the thread, Cool. And I agreed with you. I still can't believe we were unable to deal Martin at least for a 2nd round pick.
This tweet has a link to audio of Milt's media availability after the deadline.
Good stuff. Thanks for posting. I wrote it earlier in the week and I'll type it again - not doing any deals is/was the best thing they could've done. Even dumping Kmart for some garbage back didn't make sense because it's better to just have the cap space vs. getting stuck with some crap contracts back. Let the next Coach/GM use that cap space in addition to the new cap limit to add a quality Free Agent that they want.
I think Milt has done alright by the Franchise as interim GM. He hasn't done anything great....but at least he hasn't screwed things up more which is all you really ask out of an interim. We have a young, affordable core. Let's add another top 10 pick, and a good Free Agent and I think we're almost there (along with coach - of course).
I agree. I was hoping we'd do nothing and that's what happened. Gives me some confidence that Milt is sensible. I thought we'd end up dealing Martin for matching salary and a 2nd round pick. Maybe there were no takers. But like you, I'm glad we didn't do a deal that would have saddled us with salary commitments beyond the one year we still have with Martin, provided he exercises his option.

Multiple people tell me Bucks made several runs at Rubio. Each time Milt Newton asked for Khris Middleton. No deal.]
Interesting that Middleton is who Milt wanted. I get the idea there.
