Haha, of course! I'm sure you could probably put together a decent big board just off your statistical analysis. Always value that from you even if it's against me in debate!

College ball is much trickier to analyze just based on stats because teams play less games and have so different strength of schedule. I always tend to like players that have shown growth in their game during college because I think that it more probable that player that has been improving during their time there will continue to improve also in NBA. This means that I'm reluctant to make any conclusions about freshmen whom are typically drafted in top positions and I can be fooled by players whose role increases a lot during their stint in University.

As long I was just looking his stats, I thought that there would be decent change that Adrian Payne could become NBA player because he seemed to have improved something in his game every year in Michican State. Unfortunately immediately when I saw him playing little more in NBA, I started second guessing my thoughts. He just looked clueless in court and every post-up play that I have seen from him have looked just downright horrible.

I keep hearing Poeltl moves really well like in that workout with Towns. Maybe one reason he was beating those guys was he used his quickness instead of his girth. Dieng did that this last season at times with plenty positive results (but not always). I remember especially that first meeting against Okafor where Okafor was housing Towns because Towns was bound and determined to play Okafor like Towns was a big bad center and it didn't work. Dieng came in and played to his strengths. Fronting, being a pest, poking the ball away etc basically playing like a big man version of Corey Brewer or maybe a more sporadic Kenyon Martin. I haven't seen enough of Poeltl to say but is there some of that to his game or am I looking for something that isn't there?

That reminds me of how a young KG would play Karl Malone.

Cam, I'm still trying to find a prefect comparison for Jamal Murray from current/past NBA players. From physical measurement point of view I think he seems to be little bigger than Randy Foye, McCollum or Ben Gordon but still maybe smaller than Ray Allen, Brandon Roy and MIchael Redd.

O.J. Mayo seems to be maybe the best comparison from physical measurement point of view. Both guys had pretty similar freshman seasons although Murray seems to be better finisher at the rim. What you think as a best comparison for Murray?

Hey someone else bringing up this comparison. While I think comparing these 2 players is interesting for a number of reasons I would like to say at the time of the draft Mayo was touted as a terrific athlete with and NBA body. He was projected to be a good defender and was said to be a promising defensive player at USC if I remember correctly. Ultimately I think Mayo ended up being more underwhelming as an athlete than expected and that's why I don't think this comp physically is that far off except Mayo is likely always going to be a much stronger player but he doesn't always play that way.

I think both Mayo and Murray were supposed to be able to play PG. Mayo was not good at it. I think Mayo was an okay defender, but just didn't have the length to excel at SG.
