Just for fun...

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

let's play this little hypothetical game. This would never happen, so it's all theoretical, but it will be interesting to see how posters here value the pieces involved. It's interesting that last year at this time the Cavs had the first pick and the Wolves had Kevin Love. Now the situation is reversed. My question is this: If you were the GM of the Wolves, would you trade this year's first pick for Kevin Love? And would Cleveland trade Love for the first pick?

I selected the wrong one. While I selected that I would do this deal but the Cavs wouldn't, I don't think either team does the deal. The Cavs are in win now mode and a 19 year old doesn't really help that.

I Voted Cleveland would make the deal but I wouldnt.
The Dynamic of the wolves team is different now. They have the ability to score from other areas on the floor. What they need now from that position is more related to defense and opportunistic buckets.

No, but the reason is because we're a young team NOT in win-now mode.

I chose 'Cleveland would make the deal, but I wouldn't'.

Being that Kevin Love doesn't want to be here, plus KAT fits better with the stage of our rebuild.

Whoops...I saw kiwi's answer and thought I should add this (improbable) qualifier. For the purpose of this poll, assume that Love would sign a long-term deal after being traded to the Wolves.

Assuming that Love would sign a long term deal I wouldn't do the deal because Love is an injury prone guy in my eyes right now. The Cavs would do this deal if there is any issues with Love not meshing. They could pick Towns sign TT to a deal and win lots of championships.

Cleveland would likely do it for the asset, while we would be fools because we could just sign Love in FA. I don't think it would take much to clear up enough cap space.

Could have signed KG in the off-season too, but hey...

We are a long way from Love being the best PF in the league, it somehow was still hovering there last year. I wouldn't do it. But maybe the Lakers are already working on something for Love for the #2. I wouldn't put it past them. Kobe probably wants something to happen immediately because he believes he's got one more championship in him.
