Official lottery thread

Post by longstrangetrip [enjin:6600564] »

It's definitely a stay-at-home Tuesday night for me...with a Twins game, a playoff game and the most important event, the lottery. I had my normal Tuesday morning breakfast group this morning, and I got little from the Wolves owner in the group...wouldn't even confirm that it is going to be Glen's wife, dripping with jewelry, on stage. He did say that it was his belief that the brain trust favors Okafor, just as Jay-Z has been speculating for weeks.

Since many of us are Towns proponents, and assuming that Zgoda is correct, might it be beneficial for the Wolves to get the second, or even third, pick tonight? If Flip is going to select Okafor if he is available, the first pick is no longer as attractive to me. It seems better that we pick second and hope that the first pick goes to Okafor. Or even third and hope that Philly is one of the first two and picks Russell and someone else picks Okafor. Kind of counterintuitive to hope to lose the lottery, but it's not much of a stretch to see it ultimately helping us.

Thoughts?

My thoughts are Flip does not deserve a top 3 pick. Hinkie gets ripped for tanking, but nobody tanked better than Flip this year. And he gets defensive if anyone brings it up...

But WE (Wolves fans), who have suffered through so much ineptitude for so long, are deserving of a top 3 pick. So may the odds ever be in our favor! :)

I'm just happy we are guaranteed a top 4 pick, because there are 4 guys that I will be happy if we add: Towns, Okafor, Russell or Porzingus.

I do believe family members are no longer allowed to represent the team and that Glen himself will accept the humiliation of falling to 4th in person.

Came across a pretty good article on #1 picks.

I think Towns is going first regardless of who gets the pick tonight.

Our best shot is either winning the lottery ourselves or Philly winning it and working out a trade with them. 44.9% of that happening.

Flip's going against what he's already built if he really does prefer Okafor over Towns. Makes no sense at all.

We will get the 1st pick from the league for trading Kevin Love to the Cavs. It was part of the deal. We get the Cavs luck. (leagues preference)

Flip has always been a "smoke screen" guy. Putting out the word that "Okafor is the next Duncan" and comparing "Bjelica to Hummel" could be just smoke...

Porzingis would be a waste of our top-four pick. Please, God, no.

And, Tim, I hope that's all it is. I would be ecstatic with Okafor should Towns be off the board by our pick, but I couldn't be thrilled with taking Okafor first. I could eventually get behind it because I'm a fan, but man, that's not the correct play here.

The Bjelica/Hummel comments have to be falsified by Zgoda. I can't believe Flip's that fucking retarded.

Not going to watch the lottery tonight. I already know the outcome, plus watching it is more torment than I need to experience. Agree with Cam, that if we can't for some strange reason get Towns, I would be ecstatic with Okafor. Then I think Tyus will be here by the end of the draft as well.
