Curious what this board thinks about the Love/Olynk play? I'm not sure how to post photos on here but prior to it happening Love had Olynk in the exact same arm-bar, play continued, and then Olynk had Love's arm and sort of tugged (just stating general observations).

I personally doubt that it was malicious because Olynk seems like a normal, good dude who is just gangly and doesn't quite have control of all his limbs. Either way, going to be EXTREMELY interesting going forward if the Cavs (who were HEAVY favorites to come out of the East) all the sudden lose Love and are forced to play Mozgov/Thompson/Perkins against that insanely talented (and deep) Bulls front court.

K-Love forced his way out while still under contract. I got no love for him. If he's out for the playoffs, well, karma is a bitch.

As far as the play itself, I doubt Olynk meant to hurt him, but it's just one of those often occurring playoff scrums where things get a little more physical than they normally would. Although maybe K-Love wouldn't know about that since he's never been in the playoffs.

There's no question that the Olynyk play was outside the rules. Whether or not it was a "dirty" play or not is worthy of discussion. But Love's assertion that Olynyk intentionally tried to hurt him is as preposterous as his assertion that he broke his hand doing knuckle pushups. This guy just can't help being a jackass.

Olynyk and Love were both going for the ball, and Love clearly had the inside track. To prevent him from getting the ball, Olynyk hooked Love's arm and pulled him away from the ball. Olynyk's intention is clearly to keep Love away from the ball. To suggest that his intention in the moment was to injure his opponent is ridiculous. Hopefully Love gets some guidance from his agent this morning, and retracts his absurd comments.

More interesting is the impact this has on the Cavs going forward if Love is out. Some have called Love the Cavs' third best player, but I don't know if a player who is often benched in the 4th quarter of close games because of defensive deficiencies can be called the 3rd best player on such a talented team. In fact, they looked pretty good closing out the series without Love for over 3/4 of the game. But the Bulls are a much more physical team, and Love is not afraid to mix it up on the inside, so there's no question the Cavs will miss him if he can't go.

They all have a place on a team. In Minnesota, Brewer and Barea were forced to take on too large of a role and that's where they get in trouble.

Josh Smith is definitely a legit talent... borderline All Star for several years. His sudden failure to be able to shoot from 15 feet is odd... as is his inability to stay with what he's best at... but he does a lot of things well.

Aminu is a very good defender who occasionally shows that even poor NBA offensive players... are still pretty talented.

This is exactly correct. I'll throw Gorgui Dieng into that group as well even though he's still here. All of those guys were asked to be starters/major minute guys here and they get exposed. But that doesn't mean they can't all be very good contributing players with lesser roles. Sometimes less is more. Unfortunately, we didn't have talent in front of those guys to keep their minutes down.
