If the team improves, he's not leaving. If the team improves by 10, that's still 26-56. Who's gonna be lining up for that job? It's bordering on insulting.
Really? You think this team with all the young talent isn't going to be attractive? This is a team that has the potential to contend for a decade. Would a top coach want to coach an aging Bulls team or a Wolves team on the rise?
And regarding a 10 win increase, unless they have the same ridiculous injury issue again 10 games would be an absolute failure.

Others have listed some key parts so I'll add a bit, but I'm still listening to the Flip segment. First, we can finally put to rest all the BS that Flip always wanted to coach and that the search was a sham. It wasn't and you can take it to the bank. He stated he has a list of coaches in mind with a peking order inferring it's for this job. He wants to get the right guy at the right time to be here along side the young guys careers referencing 10-12 years. It's clear it's a priority to find a good fitting coach to take over.
Very early in the segment he started talking about Thibs and how the team should reach out to him. Flip responded by saying he was going to put something to rest and showed him his phone log. Barreiro mentioned Izzo's name and then Flip seemed to point out a number saying "whodya call him" and Barreiro asked if it was Thibs and I swear I could hear Flip say "yeah". Then he tried to get Flip to confirm if he discussed anything with him, but finally settled asking Flip if he liked him as a coach and he said yeah. Flip clearly wasn't wanting to give too much info away.
There was also a mention of a 2 year window for coaches, and coaches would rather be able to take over after a team has developed a couple years. Also that the Wolves are probably a year away in the eyes of prospective coaches. This makes me believe Flip is banking on the summer of 2016 to find his coach unless one of them becomes available and wants to come here now. There has also been mention that Thibs could sit out a year in which case it might line up for the Wolves (Hoiberg could stay in Iowa another year too). Personally if it were to come down to that and Thibs didn't land a head coaching gig this year I'd be all over trying to convince him to come in as the defensive coach for the upcoming season with the idea that he'd have the opportunity to take over next summer or move onto another opportunity. Taking a very bad defensive Wolves team and jumping them up the defensive ranks would certainly add to his resume.
I guess I don't get how a year is going to make a significant difference with this team in terms of desirability. We have Wiggins. We have Lavine. We have the number 1 pick in the draft. If you don't want in now then I kind of don't want you as our coach because it comes off as record protecting and not wanting to put in the hard work. The pieces are mostly already in place. They just need the right coaching for the next few years. I think it's kind of a joke that any coach would say no now if they eventually might want to be a part of the team in the near future.
Its looking very likely that hoiberg is going to chicago. In all honesty, I cant see flip hiring anyone else even after next season with hoiberg off the market.
I just dont see flip hiring the likes of scott brooks, d'antoni, mike brown etc.. I can see flip coaching for the next couple of years.

Only thing I can think of is a prospective coach waiting to see if the first overall pick is any good. If so then they will be lining up. I'm not sure who the coaches lining up will be though. I'm not so sure Thibs wouldn't be interested now.
The way that MacLean describes Towns, and I have been thinking of this before, he sounds like he is in the KG mold, skill-wise. This is why I am convinced Flip takes him. KG has always been his biggest success and his favorite player. He will want to try and replicate what he had there.
