If either don't workout (what I think in the end they will both workout) I think that will make Flips decision much easier for better or worse
I guess in theory it could make his decision easier, but these decision-makers don't make moves based on interviews, 5v5, 3v3, drills and such. They study the film because that's where the answers are found.

They certainly incorporated SOME analytics into their scouting (LaVine for sure), but with an old-fashioned guy like Flip, you can bet he'll go off what he sees the player do on the basketball court above all else.

A great workout sealed KG's fate here and Hardaway's fate in Orlando. Workouts can play a significant role in drafting a guy. Curry would probably be a T Wolf if he worked out for us, but since he refused Kahn refused to pick him. Flip wouldn't do that in this case because it is the top pick, but it is another example of how a workout or lack thereof affected a pick.
KG didn't have a season of filmed college basketball to scout from... Thus, that workout was essential.
David Kahn was the GM during the time of the Curry/Flynn decision. Take whatever he used to make his decisions with much caution... As you can see, he made the wrong pick. Probably shouldn't have a workout alter his decision, if it did.

khans, that's true, KG's workout did seal the deal on him, although none of these guys have the physical stature/ability to impress in the way that KG did in his workout. He was an absolute freak of nature and they said that if he was in the gym working out with the other top picks, he would have blown them away. With the guys we're currently looking at, the only one that would even have that chance (since we've seen less of him), would be Mudiay.

Workouts are more information to evaluate talent. To throw them out is just dumb. I could easily see a scenario where Okafor torches his competition in workouts to get a slight edge on Towns who pretty much just muscles you in the post and turns to his left shoulder. A workout would also be able to inform Flip how real Towns jump shot is or isn't. You can get information in workouts that may not be on the tape because it wasn't an opportunity the guy had available to use in college. Also because neither tested in the combine this is how you evaluate them physically going into the draft. These workouts become a bigger deal the less they do in the combine which was nothing in this case.
Jesus Christ, khans. I didn't say that workouts were meaningless. I said the decision will/should primarily be made based on film. You're over here saying: "to throw the workouts out is dumb". I never said that, but I do hold game footage way higher than workouts in determining if I should draft a player over another. If you disagree with that notion, then sure, give me a rebuttal. Don't spin the debate by making it something it's not.

Everything I have read about Towns tells me he is a first class guy who really cares about what people think of him. Refusing to work out for a team is a douchbag move, and not consistent with his character.
