There is nothing wrong with an inside-out approach to the game, with skilled post players like Gasol and Randolph (although I'd argue Gasol is probably at his best in the high post as a facilitator) being focal points. The problem is regardless of what kind of system you run, you have to have very good 3-point shooting, now more than ever.

I wanted the Grizzlies to succeed because there is something to be said for their grind-it-out/go big approach. But they simply didn't have the offensive horsepower (i.e. 3-point shooting) to get past Golden State.

For those of you looking to unload Kevin Martin, Memphis would be a good place to start.

I wonder if they'd do a Martin for Lee swap. Give us a 3 and D guy to come off the bench. Lee came off the bench in Boston so he's used to doing it on bad teams and he's insurance if Lavine isn't ready for the starting 5. He also is just a volume drop off from Martin in terms of 3's but he hits around the same percentage. They get a guy who can start and give them the 20 PPG scoring punch they lack in their starting 5 on the perimeter. Seems like both teams get pieces they can use to get better.

Interesting thought Kahns. It's basically giving up offense for defense, without completely losing the outside shooting touch.

(I also don't know exactly how good Lee is at defense. I'm sure he's better than Martin, but it seems like Allen and Conley draw all of the really tough perimeter match-ups).

Courtney Lee has been the SG du jour for the Wolves for awhile now.

While I think he's a decent player... I think there's also a reason he's on his 5th team in only 7 seasons.

That's typically the career path of bench players. Lots of teams in their careers. Lee has played less than 70 games once in his career and he improves our horrible perimeter defense. It's just a swap of short term pieces to get a younger more healthy piece who fills two holes (3pt shooting and perimeter defense).

I get it. It's moving deck furniture and moving it for the best possible tan. But I'm part Swedish, I'm gonna burn either way.

So we shouldn't try to get better because it doesn't matter if it's not a big change? All you have to do is look at the small moves the Rockets and Cavs made to realize sometimes a small move can make a big impact if the right fit is there.

No. I didn't mean to imply that.

On some levels, I can see where both sides might like that trade. Lee might very well help the team. But it would be minimal as the team is constructed currently. Only so much a guy like him can do. On a good team, he offers a legit and capable option off the bench or even as a low ceiling starter. It would be one move of many needed. Essentially, the Wolves' latest re-re-rebuilding fortunes are tied to Wiggins and who they land in the upcoming draft.

Laughable.

I wonder what Al Thornton is up to these days.

This GS Rockets series is fun. The Rockets will not go away.
