We could do some type of all-time great snake draft to make a 9-man rotation. Think it'd be fun to test your historical knowledge of the game and see what type of teams we get. Meaning only one team gets MJ; one team gets Magic, one team gets LeBron, etc. Then you build that team based on the draft order. Not sure how we'd determine the order, but it's just an idea. I liked doing this with my buddies in high school during a boring class.
That's a fun idea , how do we decide a winner? I'll humbly offer up my unbiased opinion on the matter!! Lol
We did this on another board. Although you had to choose specific seasons for each guy. Then, we ran it through a simulator for an entire season.
It was actually a lot of fun. And you learned what each poster really thinks about players and what's important in basketball.

There's only so many basketballs to go around. obviously I can't knock your team, but the reason I picked a guy like Rodman , Miller and Magic is becuz they were all great without having to control the ball for 18 of the 24 seconds. One dished and played multiple position s, one fought threw screens to get his shots and hit big shots, and one sucked in every miss with an uncanny ability to pop that rebound back out for a wide open shooter . I like the chemistry my team would have . Do u think Wilt, Jordan and LeBron would play nice together? I can't see Jordan giving way to LeBron or vice versa.

Wilt is the problem I have with that team. I could spend a week on here with anecdotes about how selfish Wilt was as a basketball player... and how it cost his teams titles.
When you're creating the best TEAM... I don't see how Wilt could be included.
Remember this is assuming you get each player at the height of their abilities. I think for 50 PPG and 20 RPG I could put up with a little selfishness.

That's the thing. You don't need 50/20 with the rest of the team you have.
And in that situation where Wilt isn't "getting his"... will he even show up in the middle of a playoff series. (That actually happened... a disgruntled Wilt went AWOL and just showed up in time for the games. They lost that series, coincidentally.)

I think you're being a little nit-picky. During the remarkable Lakers championship season in 1972, Wilt played in all 82 games while averaging less than 15 points per game. He still grabbed over 19 rebounds per game, showing he was willing to do the dirty work for a great team. He wasn't the best player of all time, but he was the most unstoppable force. Even today he would be a physical mismatch much like Shaq was for the Lakers.

Maybe. Maybe not.
I think Wilt Chamberlain is the most selfish superstar in NBA history and it cost his teams multiple championships. I also think he wilted (sorry) in big moments. Any team I put together would just foul him to either have him choke on the line or get him out of the game completely.
2 - 13 ft types of performances in Game 7s happened... multiple times.
His selfishness is well documented, which is why I would never have him on a team of superstars where a pecking order would have to be established to get them to play together.
[Note: The 1972 Lakers is a great example of what Wilt could be. It should be noted that he played "like" Bill Russell more that season than any other. He wasn't obsessed with playing every minute of every game to the point of avoiding fouls in big moments. He didn't chase the assists lead to the point of admitting he was overpassing just to pad his assist total. He embraced a secondary role and played damn good defense consistently. And his team won. That's the thing with Wilt... he'd have won so much more with that approach at other times in his career. The Big Dipper or the The Big Tease?]

Okay Abe you win.
Not about winning. But any time I can discuss NBA history, I gotta do it.
It's gonna be a hard offseason for Harden. I just finished watching that game last night and I think some credit needs to go to the GS defenders it seemed like it was just one of those nights he didn't have it.
I agree with JVG the Cavs GS series might actually be pretty interesting.
All this talk about all time great teams I think a team of a healthy Westbrook Durant Lebron AD and Marc Gasol would be a tough team to beat. It's a ton of talent and I am not saying it's the best ever but it's pretty good right? All these teams people are throwing up in this thread are and I am really enjoying hearing history of guys I never saw play.
