The race is on...

Post by AbeVigodaLive »

Three pointers:

S. Curry: 276 in 57 games.
Timberwolves: 292 in 58 games.

I think the Wolves pull away and win this one by about 40. What about you?

If the Wolves are ahead already I think they should win.

What do people make of people basically taking shots at Curry now? The idea teams can defend him by playing him tighter seems like a good idea but you have to guard him a step inside the half court line. Curry is sort of a Steve Nash type skill player (not quite the passer but very skilled and plays so relaxed) with the shooting mentality of Gilbert Arenas and better shooter and better range than either. He is plenty good enough passer to beat you and he has teammates to beat you.

It all depends on how the officials want to call the game.

I think back to one of the series between Phoenix and San Antonio (I think the one where the Suns guys were suspended). Bruce Bowen became one of the most important players in that series because he kept pushing the envelope defending Steve Nash. His motto seemed to be "They can't call every foul, bump or push."

It was brilliant. That was an underrated quality for that player and that Spurs team. They dictated how the game would be played. As a Suns fan and as a guy completely turned off by the foul calls in the 2006 FInals... it was frustrating to watch. But I still respect the Spurs for it.

Let's see how teams are able to play Curry...

It doesn't matter how you guard him. The dude is more efficient from 28ft and out than making 100% of your 2's inside the arc. You just can't guard someone for 28+ft well.

With every great scorer, the first thing you do is make him work on defense. Curry is still a bad defender despite all the jock-riders that claim differently. He's surrounded by four other above average defenders and GS hides him any time they can. You have to find a way to make him work. When he's on offense, you have to be physical with him. Bump him and grab at him as he's off ball. Use some hard fouls, maybe even a flagrant 1 when he drives the lane. With guys like him, you have to be a little extra to disrupt his rhythm.

Curry is ridiculous. What was he, 12-16 from 3? He's like video game character out there.

I watched the highlights from that game. Anyone that thinks you can D Curry up by playing him tighter is Nuts. A bunch of those 3's were contested reasonably closely. Curry is basically unguardedly right now.

This is a fun thread Abe it will be interesting to follow it.

He's on pace for 411 3s this year. Over 100 more than he had last year. You cannot guard him right now.
