I like Bazemore too, but in the new FA age, he'll get substantially more than $9M a season.
Maybe. He might be able to command something like DeMarre Carroll's four-year, $60M deal he got last year if there's a team willing to pay that much. He's just not as big as Carroll nor is he as good of a 3P shooter. Think he's more so in this tier below and if I was negotiating, I'd use these other FA deals against him:
- Danny Green: 4 years, $45 million with Spurs
- Jae Crowder: 5 years, $35 million with Celtics
- Iman Shumpert (35): 4 years, $40 million with Cavaliers
- Arron Afflalo (39): 2 years, $16 million with Knicks
- Corey Brewer (45): 3 years, $24 million with Rockets
- Marco Belinelli (59): 3 years, $19 million with Kings
Nothing we've ever seen is going to compare to the impending free agent spending frenzy about to hit the NBA this summer.
Every team is going to have to "overpay." Significantly. The thing is that many (most?) teams will have the money to do so. It's going to make rookie deals and the contracts guys like Crowder, I. Thomas or even Middleton and Rubio signed seem like great values.
Ricky's value is going to go up tremendously because of that contract. Same with the other guys you mention.
Noah would be a good get because you can pair him with both Towns and Dieng. Biyombo is a guy I would go after as my defensive big. Courtney Lee is the bench wing I go after. Those are the types of guys I go after.

I think Biyombo is signed through next season.
How much is Courtney Lee worth? Will it be worth it? He's making almost $6M now. And he'll be 31 years old next season. He's not bad. He is what he is. Could there be a sneaky younger guy out there that the Wolves can find that has upside?
Or, is the veteran presence of Lee (even as a journeyman) more important?

To me the per year money isn't the biggest deal, it's the amount of years. Didn't know Biyombo resigned. I would like to get a defensive big in here though.

That's sort of the point. At age 31, I think Lee is going to be looking at a multi-year deal, considering it might be his last (and most lucrative) one.

Good point there. We just need some good defensive bench help. I think we can compete for the 8th seed next year, but we need to add role players to do so.
To clarify on Biyombo he signed a 2 year deal last summer with a player option for the 2nd year and it's for just under 3 million so I think it's pretty likely he will be opting out.

Didn't see that on basketballreference.com... but yeah. That would be a no-brainer. He could triple his annual salary pretty easily.

For salary/contract and a lot of other good info I have been using basketball insiders the last year or so. It seems accurate and has plenty of good info about who works in each franchise the trade exceptions, draft picked owed etc.
