Wolfson was filling in today and he has Sam on in the 2 half of the show and it starts around minutes in I think. There were a couple interesting things said.

Wolfson asked Sam if you can win at a high high level with Rubio as your starting PG. Sam had mentioned Rubio as part of the core young guys earlier and went on to continue a point he made earlier that the roster needs work it needs more depth and so it's not just about Rubio or Wiggins or Towns but making the team better. Sam didn't completely answer the question but I wouldn't say it was because he doesn't believe in Rubio being the guy when they are contenders.

Wolfson after Sam was off the air basically said he admits he is biased towards Sam because he likes him and says he is a very good human being. He talked about how Sam spent the whole all-star break in Florida with his windowed sister in law who wasn't doing too well. He said he feels strongly Sam is a good person and says it's easy to cheer for a good person. Even having said that he thinks the Wolves should have a legit coaching search after the season is over but Sam should be a legit option. He seemed unsure about Thibs being the guy if they had to give him personnel power and said that's likely what he wants. What's really interesting is he claimed Doc Rivers told Flip to hire Thibs but Flip had reservations about Thibs and doesn't think he would have hired him if he was actually looking for a new head coach. I think Wolfson is not super reliable but I did find all that somewhat interesting.

I'd like to hear if Lip has any intel on this.

Yeah Cam and Flip told Barreiro on the funkadelic that he actually talked to Chicago once about talking to Thibs and were denied so I would say there was some level of interest.

To be fair, if Thibs is set on GM duties now... Perhaps that writing was on the wall then, too.

So for his own long-term job preservation... And sanity from not looking over his shoulder, I get why Flip passed on Thibs.

I'd be fine with Thibs holding both roles, but Milt obviously wouldn't. I get that Kaplan has been pushing the Thibs move, but without Kaplan, is there anyone pressuring Glen to make a move for a new GM/POBO and coach?

No. Glen likes people he's comfortable with. He's probably fine with letting Newton and Mitchell have another year at it. He's soft like that.

Another angle is that Thibs may be a little uncertain about taking the job even if offered full control when ownership is to some extent in limbo.

Well, if the next owner is the one pushing to hire him, I don't see how that would be a problem for Thibs. Seems like that would be a good sign of stability.

Sure but my angle is if the deal hasn't gone through yet and it may not go through.

Kevin Ollie did it again this week. The question is no longer if he gets an NBA gig, it's when and how much money it's going to take to get him. I worry the Lakers could pony up this summer and bring him in. And there will certainly be other competition as well. But if you look at our situation, if we're willing to spend the money, who has more to offer than we do? Towns, Wiggins, Lavine and another high lottery pick to mold in his way. Plus you have an owner who is intensely loyal to his people. I don't see why our situation couldn't be as appealing as any out there.

Ollie has what it takes:

- Proven Winner
- Great leader and communicator
- Relates well to the young athlete
- Former Timberwolf, and played for over a dozen NBA coaches.
- Young and energetic

IMO this is THE guy for our franchise at this point. Watch him in the tournament this week and see how he has his Huskies team ready to compete.

OK, I just looked up Ollie the NBA player. His number of attempted 3pt shot in his career is....29 ( made 9)! Question: do his college team shoot 3s?
