Lamb a Lion

FORM ESPN:

Report: Hornets see Lamb as a lion

comment
The Charlotte Hornets believe they have a young talent on the roster in Jeremy Lamb and this week they signed him to a three-year, $21 million extension. Lamb's teammates agree that the shooting guard can be special. From Scott Fowler of The Charlotte Observer:

"When veteran Charlotte Hornets center Al Jefferson looks at Jeremy Lamb, he shakes his head in wonder. 'I can't believe this guy has been sitting on the bench for three years,' Jefferson said. 'It's just mind-boggling to me.' ... The extremely early returns were good Tuesday night. Lamb is still coming off the bench for Charlotte, at least for now, but he scored a team-high 20 points on 9-of-10 shooting in Charlotte's 25-point blowout win over Chicago. The performance was so outlandish that it prompted coach Steve Clifford to crack later that he had wanted Lamb's contract extended Monday because 'I knew he was going to shoot 9-for-10 every night.' Can Lamb sustain anywhere near that level? That's the question as the Hornets (1-3) enter the fifth game of their season at Dallas on Thursday."
For now Lamb is coming off the bench, but Clifford may promote him to the first unit if he continues to play well. Currently Nicolas Batum is starting at shooting guard, however he could be moved over to small forward, with P.J. Hairston getting the boot to the bench.

Coming out of college I thought Lamb might be a good player. He had a good college career and was the best player on some of the younger international teams. He just couldn't get it going with the Thunder.

Well, it gives me hope that LaVine can at some point break through in a similar way. Lamb, by the way, came out of UConn one year older, a half inch shorter, and a couple pounds lighter than LaVine's profile coming out of UCLA.
