Dieng

Post by mjs34 »

I thought he looked really good last night. A little crazy at times, but he is so disruptive on the defensive end that it hides some of his mistakes. I am surprised he isn't getting more time with Ronny out. I think he would fit really well next to Love when Pek sits down. If they kept Love and Ricky on the floor with him I think he could provide a little offense as well. He is really aggressive on both ends, and has the size to do some real damage. He is kind of like a bigger Brewer.

I would say Dieng needs to work on fundamentals and PT is actually not that important now, other than in garbage time i don't see him being effective as he is still too raw, however it is visible that he is working really hard and he is improving and with two great offensive bigs he can train with he should make it rather sooner than later

He remind me of a taller Brewer! He has great athleticism for his size and yet gives the impression that he hasn't even fully developed his co-ordination yet. It sure would be nice to see him develop into a quality center over the next couple seasons!

I really like Dieng. I just think it will take a season or two for him to hit his stride. But he's one guy we should be patient with. He can be an elite rim protector that potentially brings a decent mid-range shooting and passing game to the table.

Another brief, yet productive, stint for Dieng tonight.

3 minutes, 2 rebounds, 3 blocks, 0 TOs and 0 fouls.

He is raw and has fouled alot but the shotblocking, shot changing ability and size are there. He is lost now but he tries hard and I think you can see he actually has basketball skills and IQ beyond jumping and blocking shots. I like him a ton but he might not be a rotation player till next year. He might get better in time for the playoffs though. I can dream. :)

Good to see Dieng get minutes these last couple of nights not just in garbage time, but in brief stretches of regular game action.

One thing I didn't know about Dieng is that he has quick hands and is able to get steals by poking the ball away from guys.

Dieng's still a bit raw but I really like some of the things he's done in his limited opportunities. I'd like to see him get some time early in games with the first unit. He'd bring a nice defensive presence down low plus this would allow Pek to come back with the second unit, giving it more of a scoring punch.
