Make Your Dream Team

Post by MinnesotaJock [enjin:6589402] »

This is a game that Casper made on RubeChat and thought we could play it here too. Rules are simple. You create a team of 12 players with the salaries provided below. Salary Cap is 63.75 million and you can't spend any more than that. Any players that are not listed below are $1 million. I will let you guys start off and I will post mine a little later. If you were bored like me, you can do a 3 more guys to make a 15 man roster (only $1 million each for those 3 additional guys).

***To come up with salaries, he used #NBARank and then from that computed salaries (using http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/9866526/lebron-james-tops-list-most-underpaid-nba-players-nba and http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2013/1023/insider_chart1_800x450.jpg as a baseline).

Again, it's...
- 12 players
- $63.75 million Salary Cap
- Players not listed are $1 million

This was kind of fun.

STARTERS
Players Salary Position
Ricky Rubio 8 PG
Paul George 17.5 SG
Kawhi Leonard 10 SF
Anthony Davis 10.25 PF
Nikola Vucevic 4.5 C

BENCH
Players Salary Position
MCW 2 PG
T. Hardaway JR 1 SG
Antetokounmpo 1 SF
Tobias Harris 3.25 PF
Enes Kanter 3.75 C
Xavier Henry 1 SG
Vitor Faverani 1 C

I figured my team with defend and run like crazy and might be a little on the young side.

Really fun, but tough. I wanted to include LeBron, but it's just not possible. I may come back later and see who I could potentially put around him, since he is far away the best player in the league.

Center: Vukevic 4.5 Young double double machine
PF: Davis 10.25 Looks like an all-star in his first 3 games
SF George 17.5 Potential MVP
SG Thompson 6.25 Budding star...ridiculous numbers so far this year
PG Lilliard 11.25 Looks like the real deal

Bench:
Centers: Noel 1.75 Back by Christmas
Turiaf 1 Reliable backup center

PF: J. Hill 1.25 Cheap energy guy
SF: Marion 3 Aging, but averaging a double double this year
SG: Oladipo 3.75 ROY candidate
PG MCW 2 ROY, if not VO
PG Wolters 1 Getting starter's minutes and averaging 10 and 7

Wow we almost have the same team. Here's mine:

PG - Ricky Rubio - 8 million
SG - Paul George - 17.5 million
SF - Kawhi Leonard - 10 million
PF - Anthony Davis - 10.25 million
C - Vitor Faverani - 1 million (if you haven't heard of him, go to the Celtic GM board, they LOVE him)

Bench -
Jarret Jack - 3.75 million
KCP - 1.5 million
Klay Thompson - 6.25 million
Brandon Bass - 2.5 million
Miles Plumlee - 1 million
Dante Cunningham - 1 million
CJ Miles - 1 million

Total - 63.75 million

3 more players...
Steven Adams
Anthony Morrow
Dennis Shroeder

Pretty good teams so far! I would take mine, but most other people would take their own team too. I think my starting lineup has a really good mix of both defense and offense along with good athletes for Rubio to pass to. My bench has a good mix of vets and young players too. Although Leonard is not a great shooter, we have Thompson that can light it up off the bench. Jack is one of the best backup PG's in the NBA and a great spark plug to bring off the bench. Plumlee is playing pretty good for the Suns even though it's only been a couple games. Bass is excellent off the bench because he is like Cunningham on steroids when it comes to mid range jump shots. Any of our players get injured, we have some depth so we don't have to start rookies. The rookies that I do have are all solid to bring off bench if needed as well. Hard to not go with this team against any other team that's made!

Pretty solid teams, bleedspeed and mnjock, but my starters would run your starters off the court. My starting 5 averages 113 points a game this year, while your fives each average only 89...24 points less than my guys!

2013 not enough of a sample size for you? Then, let's look at 2012-13 scoring for our starters. Mine averaged 80 points last year, and yours only 67 (I gave Faverani the same average, since he's a rookie).

Maybe defense and our benches tighten things up a bit, but they aren't going to make up 24 points. Bow down before the superior team of longstrangetrip!!!!!!!!

Or, if you think LeBron has to be part of any championship team, I would roll with the following team. A lot of risk with 2 rookie point guards, but they both are getting starter minutes in the early going and looking good. Plus, Burks can play PG too, and LeBron is going to handle the ball when the game is on the line.

C: Faverini 1
PF Davis 10.25
SF LeBron 34.75
SG Thompson 6.25
PG MCW 2

Bench:
C Noel 1.75
Turiaf 1
PF Hill 1.25
SF Fields 1.25
SG Foye 1.5
Burks 1.75
PG Walters 1

Not the strongest bench, but four of these guys are currently starting, and Noel will be by the start of the year.

Starters
PG Ricky Rubio 8
SG Paul George 17.5
SF MKG 3.75
PF Anthony Davis 10.25
C Andre Drumand 7.5

Bench (in order of entrance)
Nikola Vucevic 4.5
VO 3.75 (Paul George then moves to SF)
MCW 2
Evan Turner 2.75(For Paul George)
