Would anybody be surprised if the Wolves fell behind New Orleans and ended up losing 45 or so games?
11 other Western Conf. teams are simply better than the Wolves, including New Orleans. Consider this: Anthony Morrow is essentially the equivalent to Alexi Shved considering each guy's role on his respective team. Shved shoots 32% overall. Morrow shoots 47% on 3s. New Orleans is 1.5 games behind the Wolves with injuries all over the place. But from top to bottom... they are simply the 11th of 11 teams in the conference better than the Wolves.
At this point, watching this team play, it seem quite possible that things are going to spiral. I mentioned it before, a team hits a breaking point when the same things happen repeatedly and the reward never happens. Someday, a Wolves team without Kevin Garnett will win at least half its games. It's not going to be this season. It's not going to be next season (what's going to happen to improve the team by then?).
Maybe sometime in the 5th rebuild (2015 - 2020) we'll get to see a team play .500 ball for more than half a season. Maybe.
Maybe they just aren't very good?

We have a future all star in Shabazz who will be playing big minutes next season, vaulting us into a 4-6 seed. I wouldn't worry too much about it Abe

I foreshadowed this kind of season to the consternation of several on this board. Remember Cam?

I still don't think we'll finish under .500 when the season's over. Maybe a few games over or right at .500, but they need to be much better in the second half of the season to sniff playoffs. Pekovic needs to return healthy and everybody else needs to stay healthy. Still think a Miller/Neal trade needs to happen.
sjm predicted the Pelicans to be better than us. Still don't see that at all. I recall getting into debates with Cool about this year's team pre-season. You were correct as of right now. I was too optimistic. I didn't expect Rubio to regress, Bud to have more knee trouble and DC to lose that mid-range jumper. Truth be told, I also thought we'd be much better in close game situations, but there's a number of reasons for that. I thought our bench would be a strength, boy how wrong that was. I also thought D-Will could build off the way he finished last year, but he's the same old D-Will; draft bust. My least favorite thing about this season is the sour feelings I have for Adelman. He's done an extremely poor job this year.
