Budinger/Prince
Wolves/Grizzlies discussing trade for Budinger--Prince swap.
WHY. Is there a pick involved? Is this a pure salary dump? First reaction: I don't like it.

Re: Budinger/Prince
Next report I saw: #NBA #Grizzlies discussing a deal with the #Timberwolves. Players mentioned: C.Budinger, J.Barea, T.Prince and T.Allen (Yahoo)
Re: Budinger/Prince
Hmm interesting.
Rubio / Shved / Price
Martin / Allen / Muhammad
Prince / Brewer / LMAM
Love / Cunningham
Pekovic / Turiaf / Dieng
Whose going to score in that second lineup? Looks great on paper defensively though

Re: Budinger/Prince
I think it would be a straight up swap. Chase is a question mark at this point his career when it comes to health and JJ has been terrible this season. Prince is having the worst year of his career it would seem but he is an expiring contract next season, Allen has been hurt a lot this year and he signed a long term deal this offseason.
My inital thought was HELL YES! NO MORE JJ!!! Then I started getting excited about a Martin/Allen rotation pure offense and pure defense, ying and yang. Now I'm a little wary of this deal, Allen and Martin are on the hook for a lot of years and they're both going to be old when their contracts are up.
If this deal were to happen I'd have to imagine that Moute would be next. Having Prince, Allen, Moute, and Turiaf on the roster would make Adelman's head spin. Also I can envision Brewer moving to the bench and Prince moving into the starting spot.
Right now I say Flip should go for it, make Adelman shake up his rotation.

I dont like it as well. prince has another season after this at 7+m. He is about done as a player. Flip aint getting the prince he coached in detroit. This deal does nothing for us.

Re: Budinger/Prince
I'd do it on one condition.
Brewer's on the next flight out somewhere else immediately
and
Cunningham's out of the rotation permanently.
The thing I hate most about this deal is that it's yet another road block to purposely not use Shabazz Muhammad (OR draft another wing) because now you're locked into 4 years of Martin /Allen along with 2 more years or Brewer /Mbah a Moute. Where would Shabazz even fit in this scenario?

Re: Budinger/Prince
I'd be down for this I guess. Prince is awful on offense nowadays, but still plays pretty good defense. Allen's still as lockdown as it gets and we get rid of Barea.
Ugly part of this deal: Prince is owed $7M next year. Allen's 32-years-old and locked up for the next three seasons at $4-5M. I can live with that IF his defensive intensity doesn't falter.
Good part of this deal: Our defense gets much better and it should make Memphis' defense worse. Prince might be a trade chip next year as an expiring?
Here's a question: What does the starting/bench unit look like when everyone's healthy should this deal go through?
Rubio
Allen
Prince
Love
Pek
Shved
Martin
Brewer
DC
Turiaf

Re: Budinger/Prince
Next question: What can we get for MaM if we make this trade? He'd have to go in this scenario, no doubt about it. Can we get an Andre Miller? Gary Neal? Flip needs to already be working the phones on that one.
Re: Budinger/Prince
The only way I see this happening is if a third team gets involved. Maybe Milwaukee.
MIN Receive: Tyshawn Prince and Gary Neal
MEM Receive: J.J Barea and Chase Budinger
MIL Receive: Tony Allen

I'd just play Mbah a Moute at PF behind Love and remove Cunningham from the rotation.
