I will bet money that Love is leaving either when his contract is over or before.

No. The guy was practically begging to stay for as long as possible.

The Wolves thought it was a bad idea to keep a rapidly improving near elite player for as long as possible. That may not work out too well...

At PG I wouldn't take Jackson, Teague, Williams, Lowry, Conley or Rondo over Ricky. Note that I recognize Williams is a better talent, but his injury propensity and attitude issues tell me to stay away. I still like Ricky's upside and it's become too fashionable to dismiss Ricky based on his shooting while overlooking how he makes his team better on both ends. At the center position, I'd take Pek over Chandler or Duncan, the latter based on age.

As for what to do, I'm not ready to blow it up without one more shot this summer at building around Love. I still see great potential in a Love-Rubio duo. Assuming we end up with 10th, 11th or 12th pick next June, well have some assets to deal --

1. Our 2014 lottery pick,
2. Shabazz,
3. Barea (Bench spark on the right team and reasonable last year of his contract),
4. Martin
5. Dieng
6. Pekovic.

Unfortunately I don't think Brewer, Shved or anyone else on our roster ( other than Love or Ricky) has any meaningful trade value.

Are we supposed to choose players in a vacuum, or are we comparing everybody solely based on performance.

Because Kyle Lowry is arguably the best PG in the Eastern Conference this season. And, after starting off slowly while figuring things out with Vasquez and then battling through a wrist injury... he's been light's out. There is no question in my mind he's a better player than Ricky Rubio right now.

Mike Conley is a proven playoff performer. With the team's arguable best player out injured, Memphis called on him to change his game a bit to carry the team and keep it afloat. He did that pretty damn well. Teague continues to improve, Rubio does not... so that one is debatable for me.
