Bad news from KOM...

Post by 60WinTim »

The Klunk-O-Meter says the Wolves will miss the playoffs, tied with Denver for 9th place in the West at 47-35. Phoenix is slated to grab the 8th spot with a 50-32 record. (I think this means ownership of our 2014 lottery pick hinges on a coin flip!!!)

The KOM doesn't know Bledsoe is injured and the Klunkers could pile up in Phoenix. We can only hope!

While the Wolves are slated to win big in March (12-4), it's the rest of January (3-2) and February (6-5) creating a hole too big to climb out of. So a 9-7 record thru the end of February will not cut it. We need some Anti-Klunkers. Nabbing one at Golden State or Portland would be a nice start...

Don't see it happening unfortunately. Between the incredible strength of the Western Conference and our own failure to take advantage of the recent soft stretch of 13 games, I'm afraid we will miss the playoffs.

I still like this team. This is the most talented squad we've had in years. We are truly a good, competitive team that can blow inferior teams out of the building on most nights. Unfortunately, the inability to win the close ones, for a myriad of reasons that none of us can truly explain, has absolutely killed our chances. I'm hoping we end the season with enough momentum that Love, Rubio, and Pek vow to come back next year hungrier and better. I'd like to give this core group another run next season, perhaps with a new coach and a couple new bench contributors.

On the other hand, if we suddenly fall apart at the seams, and Love ends the year dejected, we may need to contemplate a total rebuild.....yet again.

No Tim, not the KOM again. I was opTIMistic at the start of the season, maybe nabbing a 5 or 6 seed and a hard fought 1st round. But even if we sneak in as an 8, we know what's gonna happen. The playoffs are pretty predictable. Q, I look at Portland as a model so I'm also willing to give it one more year too with our, um, Big 3.

I was just about to make this comment. If we head into the playoffs playing like we're capable of playing, is anyone really feeling like Portland's invincible in a playoff series? It'd be their first playoff experience as well so go ahead and add that to the list of things to feel good about.

I think Portland is the last team you want in the PO's. Their main scorer late in games is Lillard, and he is as cold as ice in clutch situations. Add that to Adelman's insistence on not doubling scorers down the stretch, and it spells heartbreak for the wolves.

Well that is assuming we made the PO's, which looks doubtful right now.

OKC, SA and GS are the teams I'd much rather not go against in the first round. I'll take my chances against Portland. Not to make it sound easy or anything, but I have more confidence in going against them than I do the other teams I listed.

Anything can happen. Maybe Rubio continues playing like this and we get two huge wins against GS and POR... A guy can dream right?

Yeah, I would love to face Portland but I doubt they'll get the 1 seed ahead of OKC and San Antonio. But I'll hope for season improvement, maybe we have some fight left.

Our 3-game losing streak dropped us into the 20-loss club. Fortunately, both Denver and Memphis followed us shortly there after...

As the KOM predicted, Dallas lost in Toronto tonight, so that leaves them one game away from the 20-loss club. The Clippers had a klunker in Charlotte, but with only 15 losses, they can afford a few klunkers. And Phoenix is suppose to lose tonight hosting Indiana.

I am feeling good about this year's KOM. I think this is the first one that predicted a negative outcome. Usually they predict good things and then the team fails so maybe we will get the opposite effect again. This thread has renewed my opTIMism.
