Friday night's game against Memphis is ridiculously huge

Post by BloopOracle »

The one team between us and the playoff squads, they've been playing lights out but it's a home game for us, I wish we had Pek right now.

Either way though this game is so important

Agree 100%. Ending the season with a better record than the Griz would dramatically increase our chances of making the POs.

We have done a very good job in winning lately. Can we beat a good team at home while facing adversity (Pek being out) ?!?!?! A win here would show a degree of maturity that I'm not 100% sure that we have.

The Grizzlies are hot atm, winning 9 out of their last 10! This goes to show how important Marc Gasol is for them. It will be a hard game, but it is a must win for us. We need to get ahead of .500 if we are any chance to make the playoffs.

On a side note, how the hell to Phoenix keep winning? They are missing their best player (Bledsloe) and have no real superstars on their roster. Hornacek must be a good coach, and I think they have one of the most underrated players in Goran Dragic. Gerald Green and Markieff Morris have been playing great for them as well.

The last couple games I went to, including the Pelicans game last night, the crowd has been DEAD. Yes last night's game was really ugly, but still the Wolves were taking care of business after a nice road trip, and there was very little crowd noise other than when the clock ran out (a decent ovation from the roughly 5000 people still left in the arena). Both me and my buddy made several comments about it during the game--it was weird.

The point of this is that while although the Wolves have started playing better, what they really need is for the Golden State game to happen at home. They need to win a close game against a good team where the crowd can get into it and be rewarded in the end. Tomorrow night is a great chance, but it's going to be a very tough game. If there is a blowout, I'd bet the ranch we will be on the wrong end of it.

But hopefully the Wolves can stay close and pull one out. I will be there again and I'm planning on having a few beverages and getting into it. I think the team is close to getting the average fan interested again...a gritty win tomorrow night could go along way to making that happen.

But I gotta keep it real in this prediction: Memphis by 9.

Yeah it sure would be huge and make me think twice about writing this season off. It's not impossible but I'd be shocked if MN wins.

I usually hate to put so much emphasis on any single game when we haven't even hit the all-star break. But this game IS ridiculously HUGE. Win tonight and we are neck-and-neck with Memphis on the heels of Dallas for the 8th spot. Lose tonight and we are stuck with Denver hoping to get back into the playoff race as Dallas and Memphis battle for the 8th spot.

And it's not just about the impact in the standings. It's a statement about how good the Wolves really are, even without Pek. Lose this game, and there just isn't a lot of hope that the Wolves have what it takes to win enough games to make the playoffs.

HUGE game.

Our most disappointing losses have happened on our home floor. They were crippling: OKC, Dallas, Phoenix, and then Sacramento, all within a short time frame. That can't happen again when there is so much at stake.

We need big games from Rubio and Martin. If either of them are off, I don't expect to win tonight. Love has a tough task as well, but I'm not worried about him getting numbers. Love vs Gasol/Randolph. Good luck, Kevin.

Out of the Suns, Rockets, Warriors, and Mavs which two does anybody expect to fall out of the top eight at this point? Right now if I had to pick any the only one I still believe will be home for the playoffs is the Mavs, and if they're the only ones to drop then Memphis has to drop too or the Wolves watch from home. The only way any of this matter is if the Wolves get Memphis hot where they win 9 of 10 and then continue to put up 60% winning percentage to finish the season. With almost half of the season left I just don't see an opening for the Wolves.

I still think Phoenix and Dallas will be replaced with Memphis and Minnesota. I know the Suns haven't fallen like we all thought they would, but at some point, the level of talent has to catch up with them right? They're not even playing with Bledsoe right now! Son of a bitch, man!
